Elle Entertains! Wine & Chocolate Party (On the Cheap!)

I love to entertain and aim to do it monthly. However, this can prove to be taxing on the wallet. So what did I come up with? This month's party is a Wine & Chocolate Party! I wanted to host a party that could be done inexpensively but yet look elegant (and I don't have to cook!). It can be altered to fit many occasions (think Valentine's, Oscars--this is the occasion I'm using it for, birthdays, and the like). So put on your best LBD and some red lipstick because you're invited!

DECOR: My color pallette is red, black, and white. I'm thinking romance and sensuality--wine & chocolate surely bring those to mind. Food, beverages, and candles (in clear and red glasses) will be placed on mirrored trays--use mirrors if no trays. I'll also create some height by placing some candles on upside down wine glasses. I normally cannot stand red roses, but some petals will be scattered and placed in votives. Red carnations are another way to save $. I'll also use red lightbulbs (from the Dollar Tree) to further enhance the atmosphere. White charger plates with the damask napkins will do nicely.

FOOD & DRINK: This time, I'll have no formal dinner or heavy apps. I'll serve fruit and crackers with cheese. I'll also have my brownie trifle in champagne glasses. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as good, cheap wine! I'll either head to Trader Joes or Total Wines for options. If you follow me on Twitter, you'll recall I asked you to grab some post-Valentine's candy for 50-75% off. Well, this party is the reason! This can be done for other holidays as well. Enjoy!

  4. Am I right in guessing you hosted an Oscars viewing party? Because that's right up your aisle.

  11. Totally agree, cheaper wine doesn't mean you are giving up quality.. I get a bottle here, under $10 us, that is preservative free, the best selling, and quite good, and even better than most expensive wines..now.. if you said booms farm..hmmm
