I'm one of the few that LOVES bikini shopping. This year, I was completely dreading it. I had to come to the realization that my body isn't back to its normal bikini-ready shape. I tried on tons of options, and decided for me that the tankini was the way to go. I wanted something afforable but something that also looked cute. I refused to wear those one-piece suits that looked like a forest or a flower garden threw up on it (aka older ladies' suits). I found Old Navy had mix & match pieces for $10! I also found some cute ones at Aeropostle, and Nike. For me, the best look was the plunging v-neck. It accentuated my shoulders and my chest and hid my stomach! I'll be posting an outfit post for the tankini soon! Any tankini lovers?
PS--I've gained a lot of followers lately and I thank you! Please let me know if you follow me so that I may return the favor.
I love the stripe looks...I've never owned one but they look so cute that I just might get one:)

Wow, Old Navy has some cute suits! And I agree, for me the halter v-neck is also the most flattering. I'm your newest follower.

I love tankinis, especially affordable ones! Great post and cute picks!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute and such a great alternative to the one piece. I'm not against the one piece either though, I think there are so many cute styles out right now. I ordered one last year for surfing (bikinis do NOT stay in place and I've had a few flashing incidents, yikes!) but it didn't fit right so I sent it back. I love the blue and white striped one you posted!

I just saw all of these at Old Navy! I might be picking one up soon so I can go tubing and waterskiing without having to worry about my suit flying off (again)...

I've never really been one for tankinis, they don't suit me at all...so this summer I'm looking for the perfect cut-out swimsuit. I love the patterns of these though - the one on the top row second from the right is my favourite!

Hi Elle,
ReplyDeletemy high school actually banned bikinis, thus leaving us with the option of a tankini or one piece for our senior trip a couple years ago.
since tankinis aren't as popular as bikinis, it was tremendously difficult to find a tankini that not only fit, but looked cute too. in that search, most of our girls found the cutest suits at Target or Kohls! Check it out! You might find something you like! :)

I'm a huge tankini fan because nobody wants to see a girl in a bikini pretending she has enough to fill out her top. Plus none of the inconveniences of a one piece.
