Summer's ending and autumn is *hopefully* knocking on the door soon. Is it still sweltering where you are? Summer fashion transitions into fall fashion, and there's always been rules on how this goes. One of the "rules" is that white cannot be worn after Labor Day. Well, if that's a rule you follow, I've got an outfit for you! It's classic, chic, and perfect for summer. It's your last chance to wear white before Labor Day!
- A black tank helps fight those hot temps.
- Crisp white pants look oh-so-chic. You can do skinny jeans, but I like my slightly-flared white pants.
- A cute black sandal
- An armful of silver and black bangles
- A messy updo can take you from day to night. I'll use my Goody Spin Pins!
- A nice smokey eye helps compliment my blue eyes. Ok, I'm just excited to have finally mastered the smokey eye, so that's why I'm posting it!
- Everyone said I need to step up my color gloss game, so here's a brighter shade that gives me bitten lips. Wanna do it cheaper? Fill in your lips with a pencil the same color as your lips. Cover it with cherry chapstick. Voila! Bitten lips on the cheap!
- I'm currently loving the new Falsies mascara. I'm doing a view on it soon!
- Thursday, I'm posting another white outfit...you'll see why!
Do you wear white after Labor Day? What other fashion rules do you never break?
Of course I do! Rules were meant to be broken! And besides, winter whites in chunky, soft knits are so appealing..I could never do away with them.

Love the simplicity of a black & white combo! Never goes out of style :)
ReplyDeleteIt IS still sweltering here in Northern VA...so I HAVE been taking advantage of the last few days I have to wear my white cargos and white linen pants!
ReplyDeleteI like how you've paired it with black - very chic!
Love it Elle!

I wear white year-round - it's one of the staples of my wardrobe!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteI've never had white pants :) I think I am going to get some♥
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit!
ReplyDeleteWearing white is one fashion rule that I don't think matters but I can't help but follow it...so glad you reminded me! :)
pretty outfit! but i *do* wear white after labor day. i love a good 'winter white.'
ReplyDeletei don't really agree with most fashion 'rules.' you'll never ever ever catch me with a matching handbag and shoes. i love wearing supposedly clashing neutrals together (navy and brown for instance). And my white pants are year round at the office. ;)
hmmm i'm pretty sure i just made myself sound like a crazy person.
OH, and i have an interesting historical tidbit on wearing white after labor day, but i'll save that one for your next outfit post, as this comment is already b-a-n-a-n-a-s long. :P
I love this outfit! So simple and clean. I've been wearing white like it's going out of style in order to get it all in before Labor Day. I'm not opposed to white after that, but I feel like once it gets colder, it's not as fun to wear anyway.

I definitely need to wear my white skinnies more before it's too late!
ReplyDeleteMy old room-mate always laughs at me because I "mostly" follow that rule :)
ReplyDeleteIt has been cold and wet here too so white pants are out. In fact, I just posted my cold-weather version of your "simply chic" outfit here:

My old room-mate always laughs at me because I follow that rule. I feel weird if I don't. Also, it has been cold and wet here, so white pants are not an option. In fact, I just posted my cold-weather version of your "simply chic" outfit here:

Hi-ya, thanks for the sweet comment! Such a cute blog you have, so happy I found you!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Black & white is my fave. And I'm so sad that it's the last chance to wear it. Summer please stay around just a little bit longer :)
ReplyDeletePRETTY outfit! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHave a pretty day!
Kristin
Thanks for the recommendation. I'm headed to check it out now.
ReplyDeleteBtw white pants with a black tank and accessories is one of my favorite looks.

You know, I don't necessarily believe in the no white after labor day rule. I think there are ways to style white that makes it appropriate for early fall too. I guess I'm getting all defensive here when the reality is that I don't even wear white pants, so I suppose this isn't a problem I'd come up against. I'm certainly putting away all my white cotton skirts though - they don't quite seem fall appropriate.
ReplyDeletei'm sweltering too! total boob sweat...i'm ready to wear boots and scarfs myself. but not to cold of course :)
ReplyDeleteOH, I've been intrigued about Falsies since I saw a commercial for it - I can't wait to read what you have to say!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
What a perfect send-off to August! Thanks for dropping by - I'm happy it's led me back here for a visit! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it, after labor day or not. I think the whole wearing white after labor day rule went out with matching our shoes with our handbags like our mom's did. I think white pants can be rocked any season with the right textures.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of white pants on me regardless of the time of year, but this look is just so chic. Love it!

Lovely collection! Oslo is getting colder every day so I'd say we have officially transitioned into fall.
ReplyDeleteHave a great wednesday :)
Love the outfit! I am so sad about the white, I might have to "break" the rules. I have a fabulous white post and I would love to bring it out soon. I think summer wasnt all about my white purse. Maybe for winter though.
