Anywho, I had some canned pumpkin sitting around and instead of cooking with it, like a normal person (remember, Elle Can't Cook) I decided to make a facial mask out of it! Pumpkin is high in vitamins A, C & zinc! And it is great at treating acne.
There's plenty of ways to make this customized to your skin type. If you have oily skin, add apple cider vinegar. If you have dry skin, add some cream or yogurt. If you want an exfoliant, add raw oatmeal or brown sugar. I made mine with a basic recipe I found on ehow.com:
Pumpkin Facial Mask Recipe
- 3 teaspoons canned pumpkins (you can use real, cooked pumpkin as well)
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon milk (I used no fat, but whole is obviously better)
- smidge of nutmeg or cinnamon (for that authentic pumpkin pie smell!)
- Combine ingredients, apply to face, and leave on for 10-30 minutes before rinsing off.
- Resist urge to eat! ;)
I have a very sensitive skin so I cant really use many DIY beauty products but I love the idea of pumpkin mask:)

My dads birthday is October 18th as well! Love the DIY Pumpkin Facial Mask. The one I have done is a little different but yours seems to be amazing. I must try it out!

Wow, I've never heard of a pumpkin face mask! To be honest, I think i'd eat it right off!
ReplyDeleteNope. Not much of of D-I-Yer when it comes to beauty routines. My favorite part of a facial is being pampered. I would prefer to wash muffin tins that contained pumpkin cupcakes rather than my pumpkin-covered face! Funny how everyone is willing to do a little dirty work for different reasons! (You did make me want to get in the kitchen and bake!)
ReplyDeleteI don't really like eating pumpkin (probably because I'm not really used to it), but this recipe for a facial mask sounds great. It's all natural too! And I really love that you give tips on how to customize it.
ReplyDeleteIve never heard of this either..I couldnt do it.....my skin is very very sensitive....its a great DIY for those who can...your post made my instantly want a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.....lol:)

Your outfit inspired by Kendi is fantastic :)
i find pumpkins are very attractive, but i don't want to put any part of them in my mouth. well, the seeds are ok if/when toasted.
ReplyDeletebut i think i could do a pumpkin mask as long as i didn't take a whiff or look at the color.
yes, i am a picky f*ck.
side note: my vet says i should give my cats a bit of pumpkin in their food. it helps with digestion!
Pumpkin is supposed to be really good for skin that's a bit run-down
