Instead of doing the regular ole New Year's Resolutions (only to be broken a day later) I decided to realllllly step it up a notch. I'm doing a different resolution each month for 2011.
I had once read that it takes 21 days to form a habit (maybe that was break a habit?) so I'm hoping these changes will stick far longer than a month. At the beginning of the month, I'll share my new resolution as well as write about what happened with the month's previous resolution. Some resolutions will have a different activity each day, while others will be the same thing for 30/31 days.
January's resolution is to Focus on the Blog. If you follow my blog (I don't mean the "lovely post xo" "but I've not read one word of it" comment. HA!) you've noticed I've changed things up a bit, hopefully for the better. This month I have/or would like to achieve
- New blog layout
- New blog buttons
- Change Header (HELP! Anyone?)
- Animated Elle Sees button
- New Twitter layout
- Sponsorships (not foolish enough to think I'm gonna make money, I just wanna pay for Internet)
- Respond to comments daily
- Find at least one new blog to read/possibly respond daily
- Create a posting schedule. (Ex. Monday's are Quick Tips, etc)
- Write quality posts
- Streamline amount of posts to 4-5x's a week (I used to post 6x's a wk. And no one read it! No mas! And I need a life.)
- Do product reviews
- Create enough blog ideas for 3 months in advance (I am the nerd that always has something to write)
- Do monthly guest posts
- Do monthly features on bloggers
- Update blog pages (About, Featured In, etc)
And many more....
Here's to hoping I'll do it!
I'll post the 2011 Monthly List soon.
Did you do any resolutions? Have you broken them? Have I lost my mind?
I'm trying to do the same thing too, starting with getting all my favorite reads on a reader because I was using the "going back on the comment" method and it was not working! Things were falling through the cracks and going back on all my comments was so time consuming! Now all my reads are in one place and I know who just finished posting :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list of ideas!
ReplyDeleteI started drafting some posts when I have down time. I have many til almost the end of the month. It's nice to wake up and it's UP! (like todays long post, it was done last week)
Happy Thursday!
I really like your idea for working on one goal for each month...way more manageable I think!
ReplyDelete(and also your comment on the xoxo lovely post comments, those drive me ca-razy :)
I think tackling a resolution a month is a FANTASTIC idea! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with updating your blog- I am in the process of doing the same.

That is such a lovely idea and I really like your list
ReplyDeleteKisses and hugs, darling
That's a lot of changes! Good luck with everything. Hopefully you get your internet paid for!

Very good idea, since a lot of times by even the middle of the year, our goals have changed and we don't give a CRAP about what we wanted to do in January. Or is that just me? Monthly resolutions are smart.
ReplyDeletei have a little notebook i keep in my purse and whenever i'm walking around or to work (yes, we can walk to work in italy, haha) and i get a blog idea i jot it down. i find this helps me always have something planned.
ReplyDeleteyou could do a lot of different things for a header i think! like a cute logo where the e's are little eyes! haha!
Nice new lay-out. The header is a little tough. I created a collage using Picassa. It took a lot of trial and error but I finally did it. I wish I could be more helpful but I'm pretty technologically deficient :)
ReplyDeleteWow!!! You are crazy! Hahahaha! I like that idea though! Can't wait to see your blog improvements! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your resolutions and good luck with keeping them! I have never been good with keeping mine, so this year I thought I'd just get ahead of myself and NOT make any! ;o)
ReplyDeleteOh your blog is adorable! I just stumbled on you and I'll definitely return!
ReplyDeleteI like your resolution idea! I'm excited to see what your monthly resolutions will be. :)
That is a very good list. Good luck with month #1 - I cannot wait to see the new and improved blog.

Nice plans! I like your idea of having a resolution each month. Maybe I'll do that next year :)
ReplyDeleteI had posted my resolution on artsy ants blog about making a sketch a day and so far have been successful. I can't be proud of myself yet since it's only day 6 of 2011...
Oooh great resolutions!! And smart doing them once per month hehe :D

best of luck! yeah, resolutions that are all general and whatnot are usually broken right away so this may be the way to go.
ReplyDeletefor instance, i decided yesterday not to eat any candy stuff for a week. i had a brownie today.
i fail! haha.
Whoa..lots and lots to do then? Oh goodness!!! I can't wait to see the new design as well = )
ReplyDeleteThe new layout looks great! I need to change mine sometime...
ReplyDeleteYou are so NOT out of your mind - your resolutions are fantastic! On that note, I didn't make any myself this year, I just can't think of anything. :P
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan! Happy new year from Norway
ReplyDeleteThese are great resolutions, but the other day I watched and interesting documentary that said that our brain is not prepared to fulfill large lists or resolutions. I guess one step at a time would sum this up. So my only resolution for this year is being fitter and eating healthier :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this idea! Good luck and keep us updated!
ReplyDeleteThis is a good idea!!! I would never think about it!! and I really love your blog look!!! I need to do mine

I think a resolution a month is much more effective! I'm going to work on my blog a lot more as well.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck.

28 days to form a habit, huh? Well, so noted. I can't believe I haven't heard that before.
ReplyDeleteI think the blog is looking good, good luck with the rest of your changes! I like the idea of doing a monthly resolution...I wish you'd posted about this in December so I could have done the same thing!!

I don't have any resolutions for 2011 but with everyone posting about them, I feel like I should think up a list for the rest of the year!
ReplyDeleteOne of them could possibly be to spend more time on my own blog as well; I just updated my blog roll yesterday and I usually put that off because it's so much work checking for broken links and what not.
Writing so much material in advance is an insane task! I know I couldn't do it!
First off: I love the monthly resolution thing!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to watch Elle Sees continue to grow and develop this month and all year long. Having 3 month's worth of ideas in the can is impressive!
"lovely post xo" {hehehe}
Leaving the House in THIS?!?!
Having 12 months of goals/resolutions is pretty darn genius.
ReplyDeleteIt gives you landmarks to hit, and at the end of the year, you have a nice step by step calendar of your achievement.
