In the summer, makeup tends to look oily and sticky. And who wants to have that much makeup on anyway? Here are some tips on how to keep your makeup summer-ready (click the pic for more info):
- If you need a primer, avoid one that is oil-based, and put it only where you need it. I skip this step, personally, and sometimes use THIS as a primer!
- Use a liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer. A powder-based foundation looks cakey. I use Neutrogena.
- If your foundation is SPF-free, mix in a bit of sunscreen.
- I avoid blush since my face usually looks flushed outdoors, but try a cheek stain or a mouse blush.
- Once all makeup is applied, use Urban Decay’s De Slick to set. Or make your own, like me!
- Still greasy? Blotting papers (or a toilet seat protector if you're really desperate--it works) can alleviate the oil.

ReplyDeleteI've never used the Laura Mercier primer, but I am a big fan on her Tinted Moisturizer, especially in the summertime when less is more!

ReplyDeleteI usually use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer because I'm too lazy to apply a primer, foundation, and primer but I think I will give it a chance!

ReplyDeleteSuch great tips my dear! I am using Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer (oil free) and it is fab! Love bare escentuals mineral foundatio and Anthelios moisturizer (the only kind that is more effective against UVA rays).

Will have to try that Neutrogena foundation - mine is way too light and making me break out. Just bought Too Faced's Bronze Kit and can't wait to experiment more with it!
ReplyDeleteLove oil blotting papers, they save my life in the summertime! They make you look and feel better instantly!
ReplyDeleteMy other must-haves for summer are Evian mist (I know, I know..but it really is refreshing).

Thanks for checking out my blog. Great blog! I usually thought to wear powdered makeup in the summer to absorb all the oils because liquid would melt off but now I'm reconsidering :)
