For the final installment of my Month of Hair Masques, (aka where Elle is determined to try any weird and/or stinky masque), I decided to end with a bang. And keep vampires away as well (sidenote: Any Tru Blood Fans or Being Human fans?). Ole Google didn’t let me down and I found this recipe. See previous hair masques—and results—here.
Ingredients
- Spoonful of Castor Oil
- 2-3 Garlic Cloves, crushed
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 egg yolk
- 5 teaspoons olive oil
Method
- Mix ingredients
- Apply to hair & massage for 5-10 minutes.
- Cover head with warm towel.
- Wait 1 hour.
- Shampoo away.
Did It Work? Would I Use It Again?
The castor oil is supposed to stimulate growth, while the garlic helps with hair loss. The additional ingredients provide nourishment. I used it once, so I can't attest if hair growth occurred. I do know that my hair felt fuller and healthy.
This masque literally stunk, so probably not. However, I shed A LOT and if I was bothered by this, I would use this masque more often.
Final Word
I really enjoyed this series, and my hair did too (?) I think. I wanted to prove that I could use natural ingredients on my hair and I could do it cheaply. I honestly don’t see myself splurging on the pricey hair masques anymore. I’m very glad I tried these masques, although some I probably won’t use again.
This one sounds suspicious but that can be good, I'll try it!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty open to putting gunk in my hair but I think I'll leave the garlic for my pasta :) And yes-I'm a huge True Blood fan!
ReplyDeletedid you try this? i can't help but wonder about the garlic and it helping hair loss, is that good? i almost would think so since garlic is magical like that:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! The Florida sun is unforgiving and my long hair is taking a beating :)
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I never envisioned caster oil doing wonders for hair - but good to know! I wonder what the garlic does??

I totally raised my eyebrow at the garlic notions but hey Elle, I trust you on all of this, I need a hair pack before I head out again, that sea water did me some damage. I look like a frizz ball.
ReplyDeleteI have loved this series! I feel like my hair is always "left out" because I do other kinds of treatments to my face and nails. I'm about due to try one!
ReplyDeleteTotally laughed at the "and it keeps the Vampires away!". So glad, but wait isn't this a myth?! The garlic stories I mean... ;)
