How To: Day/Night Eyes Featuring Too Faced/Rue 21 Natural Palette

Day to Night

Last month, I shared a Cheap Treat dupe, the Rue 21 Natural Palette that looks like the Too Faced Natural Palette. I had requests for a natural, neutral look and a more dramatic look. I decided to combine the two into a Day/Night mini tutorial. The top picture is the Too Faced and the one beneath is Rue 21's version. The Rue 21 shades aren't labeled, so remember each number corresponds with each shade.  Let's start with the DAY look:

  1. First, I put a primer on my lids. Next, I patted Silk Teddy all over my lid (largest shade on Innocent section).
  2. Push Up was brushed into my crease (far right Innocent section).
  3. I dabbed Sexpresso (worst name ever) into my outer corner and very lightly blended into my crease (middle shade of Innocent).
  4. In the inner corner of my eyes and underneath my eyebrows, I brushed Heaven (largest shade Instinctive).
  5. I added brown eyeliner and 1 coat of mascara. This look can be recreated with the UD Naked palette too. Need less of a DAY look? Complete the look using the top row of the palettes.
And now for NIGHT:

  1. For NIGHT, I rubbed NYX Jumbo Pencil in French Fries (last seen here) all over my lid as a primer. It's a brown/bronze color. Next, I patted Nude Beach all over my lid (largest pan on Excited).
  2. My crease had the shade Push Up (right shade in Innocent).
  3. Into the outer corner I tapped Cocoa Puff (middle shade in Excited) and lightly blended into crease.
  4. The inner corners of my eyes, as well as underneath my brows, have the shade Honey Pot (bottom right shade in Excited).
  5. I used liquid black eyeliner and 2 coats of mascara. I smudged Cocoa Puff underneath my bottom lashes. This look can be recreated with UD Naked palette. Note: the Rue 21 does have fall out, especially with the glitter shades. Need more of a NIGHT look? Use the bottom shades of the palette instead.
Are you into a neutral or more dramatic eye look?

  1. Good advice. I keep trying to create a glamorous evening look but fail in the process. This helps.

  8. I love it!! You should make a video showing how you apply it! :)

  9. I prefer neutral. The reason therefor is because I have glasses. And I find that with a dramatic look, my eyes look so small, barely visible behind my glass frame. So I go for neutral an lots of brightener:)

  10. I love the dramatic eye look only because I feel I don't exactly "pull off" the neutral one. I did take your suggestion, and I'm getting a little better at it....but "cool" colors are still my go to shades.

    Happy weekend!

  17. I definitely go for the more dramatic eyes. I think that my eyes are my best feature, so I like to play that up and draw the attention there and away from my big nose/no chin ;) Love both of your looks!

  25. I only wear make up like 5 times a year so I'd say I'm more a natural girl. I wear a very small amount of black eye liner then with some slightly sparkly brown stuff on the lid (technical description)

But I love what you've done here!
