Just like every mom I use my hands a lot. I change diapers, get kids clothed and bathed, wash dishes, laundry, clean, also cook and write a blog. Back before I had kids I always wore acrylics short and square with French manicure design –my husbands favorite- now don’t get me wrong being a mom didn’t make me stop wearing them. It was the fact that I discovered OPI and how to do my own nail color to last me a little over a week even with all my activity.
It’s very easy first regardless if I was or wasn’t wearing nail polish I use a cotton dipped in acetone and rub it against my nails then I apply a base coat and 2 –3 coats allowing each coat to dry for about 2 minutes, after this process I apply a top coat.
My favorite colors from OPI are Lincoln Park After Dark, You Don’t Know Jacques and Russian Navy. My favorite Essie colors are Au Natural, Jazz, Chinchilly and Merino Cool. I also like using drugstore brand such as Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear: Lacey Lilac and Wet Cement.
How do you paint your nails? How do you make the color last?
Nothing I love more than a good OPI!
ReplyDeleteI love OPI and Chanel. Essie I've used once and didn't really like the result, maybe it was just the color. I don't really worry about trying to keep the color on, because I'm diligent about removing nail polish after a few days. Off to check out Maribel's blog! :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty shades, I really love OPI!

Thanks for sharing your favorites! I always struggle with keeping my polish from chipping.
ReplyDeleteI cheat...I use UV Gel manicures that last 2 weeks. It's expensive, but at least the chips don't make my OCD twitch. hahaha
ReplyDeleteLincoln Park after Dark is my favorite nail color ever :)
ReplyDeleteGreat colors! I have to say I don't always do a great job at getting my nail color to last a long time, but since I tend to wear light shades, touch-ups are fairly easy when needed.
ReplyDeleteI keep it to dark purple and reds in winter but maybe i should splash out more, that taupe looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteI love OPI, Essie, and Zoya, and a good top coat is essential!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you all liked my guest post. I too like dark purple tones and will soon try a new one. I have never tried Zoya, should do so soon because a lot of friends love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you again Elle :)
you should try Mary Jo's polish... i'm wearing it and love it!
ReplyDeleteI love doing my nails; OPI & Essie & Spa Ritual are my faves!
ReplyDeleteVery nice post!
ReplyDeleteI'm so amazed the color stays on for so long! Every time I try and paint my nails, the color chips by the next day. However, I'll try to paint the coats after a couple minutes; thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeletefun! and a new person to look into to follow! :)

I love all the OPI picks. They're all such great colours. I have to admit that Essie is a hit-or-miss for me though.
ReplyDeleteI love OPI and I almost always do my own nails. It's amazing how base & top coat really do make all the difference
ReplyDeleteI love that Extreme Wear {wearing it now} and Essie.. my two favs by far!
