I thought I'd suggest a new product you might not know about. BB creams (beauty balm or blemish balm) have been all the rage in Asia and are finally making their way to the States. They are great at creating an even skin tone, hiding imperfections, and giving a satin complexion. BB creams are in between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation. I like them because I have really dry skin, and they give me that dewy-but-not-greasy look. Additionally, with summer coming, BB creams are great for when I tend to wear less makeup.
BB creams can be bought easily--for the Asian brands, I'd check Ebay, but be warned they have sort of a greyish tint--so if you're of Asian descent or very pale, this is perfect. They can also be bought at all price levels, but you all know I live for drugstore brands, so I purchased the Garnier Skin Perfecting BB Cream. This retails for around $11-13. It comes in two shades: light-medium and medium-dark. I have tried both. The light-medium works best for me. I can use the other shade (and probably will in the summer), but only with a really light application.
Application is easy--I use my fingers and have found this to be the best way. Brushes and sponges tend to remove the dewy look. Also, by using powder, the effect disappears. It lasts all day
If you have acne-prone or oily skin, you might want to skip the original version of this product. There is now a combo/oily skin version! However, using a brush/sponge can help since it eradicates the shine.
Cons:
- It smells at first
- Oily skin--might want to avoid EDIT: There is now a combo/oily skin version!!!
- 3 shades
- price
- moisturizing
- spf 15
Would I Buy Again?
Yes! I hope you try it.
Do you use BB creams? Which brand?

I was super excited about this... but only SPF 15? That's not enough for me!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see it's good in other areas though.
Sounds like a great product - I will have to give it a go!

I keep reading about the BB creams, but never read a review that said it did make the blemishes better or even gone... I'd love to try one, if I can find a good natural one.
ReplyDeletecool...never heard of BB Creams before. Do you wear foundation with it, or does it take it's place?
ReplyDeleteThis is something I just found out about and that I've been wanting to try, so I'm glad you reviewed it! My only concern is that even the light-medium will be too dark for me!

ReplyDeleteI have wanted to try this BB cream. I true the one by Maybelline but I don't like the color it is on my skin. I prefer foundation. But maybe I'll try this Garnier one because I love love love their under eye rollers and so..maybe I'll like the BB Cream too!
