I realized I forgot to post this! And it's been one of my most proud moments. Seriously. So for February, I decided to give up Diet Coke for a month. I've tried at least two times on the blog before, always ending in failure. This time, I did it!! I did it!! Have I had Diet Coke since? Yes, but the gotta-have-it feeling isn't there. The only negative, which really isn't, is I expected to have super amazing skin from all the water I drank. My skin was the same, but I know it's healthier.
For Lent, I gave up chocolate. That lasted around 6 hours, when I had a bite of some chocolate ice cream, and completely forgot. So instead I gave up cupcakes/cake, and am carrying this over into March. So far, so good.
Evil deliciousness, in an old-school glass bottle.
PS: There are two posts today! Check 'em out.
Nice job with the diet coke!!! And the cupcakes. I'm too addicted to cupcakes to give them up.
ReplyDeleteha, great for you!!!! it is seriously hard to cut back on things that you just enjoy so much. major props to you for following through! cupcakes seem like a good one for march :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I know how hard it is to quit! That diet coke photo is hard for me to even look at. I've been trying to quit my diet pepsi habit, especially since I know how truly awful the stuff is for you, but it's my crack so mostly I just steer far away from it so I'm not tempted.

Good on you! I gave up a drinking diet coke a few years back when my kids told me it was unhealthy & I was setting a bad example ...how cheeky!. Anyway I did & I don't miss it. I feel much healthier now. I have a can once a week as a special treat! Pop over to my blog when you have a spare minute & check out the new look!

Hi, My name is Ana and I'm addicted to Diet Coke (insert sad face here).
ReplyDeleteYay, congratulations! Thats really great will power hun!
ReplyDeleteI'm ditching for chocolates
ReplyDeleteand soda drinks too. Plus, it's no good
for my Mr.Freddy. Not healthy and made him hyper.
Congrats! I'm proud of you. I gave up sweets for Lent...chocolate, candy, cake, ice cream, the whole bit. So far so good! I don't crave sugar anymore but Easter candy is the BEST. And yeah, I've had maybe five diet cokes since February and have been drinking lemon water, my skin's not that much better either. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteChange is such a struggle. Habit is a powerful force. Even when we know we should change, actually doing it is never easy -- and often unsuccessful. Good luck with your efforts.
ReplyDeleteGood job! I truly believe that cutting most artificial sweeteners makes our bodies jump with joy! Cake and chocolate though... Baked goods are my downfall but I am wishing you continued success!
ReplyDeletegood will power!!!
ReplyDeletefor lent i gave up anything with alcohol... i broke it once because i had to but been very nice about it...
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Good for you!!! It takes really hard work to keep at your goals. That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I also need to kick my Coke Zero habit.
ReplyDeleteOh congrats on giving up Diet Coke for February!
ReplyDeleteIt sucks that you can't just give up sweets and have your face be super awesome. It should totally work that way!
Congratulations! That's tough to do. I used to drink diet coke like crazy a few years ago, then I switched to Crystal Light. Which still isn't great with all the artificial sweeteners, but it's a step in the right direction. ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't think drinking lots of water has a lot of skin impact. But it will have other benefits on your health. My doctor has me drinking ~2L a day, lol.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! As for your skin--- give it a few more weeks to see the full effects. There are a lot of chemicals built up that still need to be flushed out. Also, peppermint tea is also great for the skin!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! I'm failing in my ditching Diet Coke, I'm down to one a day though...
ReplyDeleteYAY ELLE! I am scared to try Diet Coke since I've given it up for all these months...I'm afraid I'd have an allergic reaction to it or something since I haven't had it in so long. Haha, just kidding ;)
ReplyDeleteNow giving up chocolate? That's a whole different story for this child!
Thanks for your comment...I somtimes wish Chickfila was open on Sundays too! That way we could enjoy their yummy goodness all week long. ;) But I really do apprecaite their morals in not being open on that day too.

I quit the DC about five years ago. It was haaaaaaard!
ReplyDeleteGirl I could NEVER give up chocolate. Congrats on completing your goal :)
ReplyDeleteHorray for kicking the habit!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your no Diet Coke challenge! I wish I could give up caffeine, but I don't think I'll even try. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat! Cheers! xoxo

Congrats on being able to do the Diet Coke thing:)
ReplyDeleteWay to go! I'm not sure I could give up my (regular) Coke. I definitely have that "Gotta Have It" feeling and it would be very hard for me to not start my day with my morning Coke. People would not want to be around me for sure! But I do try to keep it to just one a day.
