1. Subtle Ombre Nails--You need are 5 shades of polish that are similar; just paint each nail a different color. You get the ombre effect but in a very subtle way. Super easy.
2. Two Color Ombre--I originally shared this Ocean Waves Gradient Nails here. Essentially, you alternate between two colors; I used white and aqua.
3.Three Color Ombre--My Ombre Sunset Nails are easy to create. Dip a makeup sponge into 3 colors and then press onto nails.
- Chunky (big) glitter polish
- Smaller (fine) glitter polish
- Base color
- All of the polishes used should be in the same color family.
- Clear coat
Revlon's Strength of Pink, Pure Ice's Spitfire, Revlon's Sparkling
M E T H O D:
- Paint base color and let dry--you might need two coats.
- About halfway down the nail, paint a thin coat of the fine glitter polish, to the tip of the nail. Let dry.
You can leave it like this--just as pretty!
- Paint the chunky glitter polish on the upper fourth of the nail, focusing the polish on the tip. I used Sparkling, which is my dupe for Essie's A Cut Above. Dry, paint a clear coat on top, and that's it!
T I P S:
- No glitter polish? You can use actual glitter or make your own nail polish from eye shadow.
- Remember, if these looks are too much, just try an accent nail!
- Don't like the colors I use? Consider these colors your inspiration--use what you like instead!
Ombre glitter nails with a second coat of glitter polish, for a darker effect.

I love glitter polish, however I'v always avoided it because it hurts and takes all my remover to take it off my nails. Any suggestions? because I would really love to do some glitter ombre on my nails.
ReplyDeleteI like style #1. I plan on doing this in the fall. Gray/black/white.:D

what a coincidence! i have a glitter ombre on my nails now with very similar colors. baby pink & a true red on my bling finger. then i have a really pretty rose gold type of glitter polish *strobe light from SH*- if you mixed the 2 glitters you have, it would look exactly like strobe light. i have tried the sponge technique when using cream colors together, but i couldn't get the hang of it. i should follow along with you next time and maybe i can get the hang of it.
ReplyDeleteu are so good with nails!

Super cute...
ReplyDeleteI like to do ombre nails with a makeup sponge (you know those little cheapy white ones?) and just kind of dab the layers on. It makes a cool effect.

Love ombre nails! I did some for Halloween and that was fun. Totally took me a while to figure out how to do it and by this time I've already forgotten so I'm glad you shared this :)
ReplyDeleteHappy almost Friday, love! xoxo
Aw Elle, your DIY's are always so awesome and creative!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I came back to see how I skipped that sponge method, now I see it on the 3rd one. I skipped right past 3 and 4 and went on to the glitter method. That is probably my fave way to do it, although it can be a little messy.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Melissa
