It's an unfortunate statistic that we probably know at least one person affected with breast cancer. For me, it was my beloved Great Granny Sugar, who passed away this year at 95 (not from breast cancer). She was diagnosed at 80 and was a survivor of breast cancer. Every year since then, I try to contribute in some way. So naturally, I was very excited to hear about Look Good Feel Better--check it out:
Look Good Feel Better workshops help people with cancer to deal with the devastating outward side effects of their treatment: helping them to regain their self-confidence and focus their energy not on being a cancer patient, but on becoming a cancer survivor. They've been around for 23 years and the workshops are free, available in all 50 states! What a wonderful resource!

A year ago last month a dear friend passed away from breast cancer. She had a 4 year old little girl. Devastating. You never believe it will affect you or those you love until it does. Xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your gran. My aunt was also diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago but has thankfully survived it. It might come back but we are hopeful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I lost my mother to breast cancer and my female friend had it when she was just 17 so she survived it.

ReplyDeleteI haven't had a family member with breast cancer, but my mom did have a bit of a scare a few years ago. Just the panic of not knowing while we waited for test results was too close for comfort. We have to rally and support this- it's such an important cause.

Such a great post. You are right in that just about everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some form or another. I love that the whole month of October is dedicated to it! And I LOVE seeing men wear pink in support of it.
