Beauty Products: The Top 12 of 2012

Happy Weekend to us! What amazing things do you have planned? My plans are still up in the air, but I'll be sure to drink lots of water and maybe catch a movie. But before I start my weekend, today I'm sharing 12 of my favorite beauty products from this past year. These were really hard to narrow down, and I could have easily added a bunch to the list. I chose these because I reached for them the most. I wanted to have a representation of drugstore and higher end, products that most of us can use, and use only products that were not PR samples.

This time of year resolutions are made, such as clearing out the old beauty products for new ones, deciding you're going to up your beauty routine this year other than "just chapstick" (nothing wrong with that), or even saying to yourself, this is the year I figure this makeup/hair stuff out. I hope you enjoy the Top 12 of 2012 and maybe even find a new fave. Enjoy!
Garnier BB Cream--I have dry skin, and this is my go-to for days when I want lighter coverage. Have oil skin? Then you probably won't like Garnier. Instead, check out all of my drugstore BB cream reviews here,

Two Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder--I'm not really into glittery bronzer, especially for a year-round look, so I love this matte one. It comes in a lighter version, won't make you look orange, is excellent for contouring, and smells like chocolate! I've never broken out with this bronzer. PS: I also use it to hide my roots and as eye shadow.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation--I like the original Colorstay, but LOVE this new whipped version. It looks even better as the day goes on. A great drugstore foundation with buildable coverage.

Benefit Porefessional Primer--There are just some items I have to go high-end for, and this is one of them. It temporarily hides pores and helps foundation last, plus I've never had a breakout.

Remington Pearl Ceramic Curling Wand 1.5 inch--This large conical wand gives me those loose, beachy waves I love. If you have long hair, you'll love this. It comes in the standard 1 inch too.

It's a 10 Miracle Leave In Product--Another item that is pricey, but for my dry, coarse, and frizzy hair, it's a necessity. It's a 10 repairs dry hair, adds shine & silkiness, detangles, controls frizz, color/heat protectant, prevents split ends, stop breakage, and enhances natural body. They have a lighter version, too. Purchase at Target, ULTA, and drugstores.

Real Techniques Brushes--I'm ashamedly not into Youtube and was unaware of the whole Vlogging phenomenon (wish I had more time), so I wasn't aware of the history behind the brushes. All I know is I love a good quality brush at an affordable price. These don't shed and are easy to clean. Try the buffing brush. ULTA is where I purchased mine.

ULTA polish in "O"--This is THE perfect summer polish. It's like a golden, sparkly peach sunset and a dupe for NARS Orgasm polish. Looks great with a tan.

Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells--I could have easily put either of the Naked Palettes here, but these are so easy to travel with, are every inexpensive, and have nice pigmentation. The palette here is a perfect for beginners or everyday makeup. My personal favorite palette of WNW is the LE Vanity palette, with its comparable MAC shades, but I wanted something everyone could find easily.Try Ebay for Vanity or your drugstore for the rest of WNW line.

Prestige My Blackest Lashes--If you don't like L'Oreal Carbon Black (one of my faves) try this one. It's a little bit drier and gives lots of volume. I've found Prestige at ULTA and Rite Aid pharmacies.

Revlon Kissable Lip Balm Stain in Crush--I almost put the Lip Butters here, but I like how this starts off as creamy and then fades to a stain. "Crush" is a very wearable color for almost everyone, is buildable, and is perfect for winter.

Maybelline Baby Lips--I think I have one of these stashed everywhere and have gotten my sister hooked on them. They keep lips super soft and most are lightly tinted.

Now that I've shared my Top 12, tell me some of yours!

  11. Glad to see the Garnier BB cream here. Initially, I didn't like mine. But after using it for a while, I really like it. You are so right about its moisturizing character. I usually don't need moisturizer when I use it.

  18. I agree with several of these!

*The Revlon pink curling wand works just as well as my Sutro one from Sephora (for a FRACTION of the price)! So nice, and I love the tapered end.

*Have also heard the Revlon whipped foundation is a favorite for many YouTubers. Haven't tried yet!

*Love the Too Faced bronzer, too! Although a TEENSY bit goes a long way...you can go from bronze to totally baked real quick!

  20. I cannot begin to express my love for Porefessional Primer. It's magical. I'm sure of it. I love most of Benefit's products though. The Erase Paste really does erase.

Outside of the Benefits products, I'm really loving the Makeup Forever Aqua Eyeliner. I like to line my waterline and this is the first one I've found - and I've tried a ton - that really stays put.

I may pick up that curling wand. I have long hair and love curls but have such a hard time getting them with anything other than a straightner (ironic) which takes me forever.

  32. Thanks for this. I'll give them all a try. :) I'm a fan of Too Faced products and my greatest discovery in 2012 was the Too Faced Tinted Balm. It works so well with oily and sensitive skin. I used it as a healthy alternative for foundation while traveling.

  40. Thanks for the review!!!! I love BB cream!!!

  41. Thanks for sharing! I've heard many complaints about Garnier's BB Cream but I guess it depends on your skin type. I want to try that whipped foundation! Maybelline had one "nude air foam" or something but the palest shade was too dark for me :/ #palepeopleproblems so I'll see if Revlon has a pale color. I also liked their Just Bitten lip balms but I loved all those lip balms including Clinique's. I've been wanting to try It's a Miracle product but as you mentioned they're pricey. I may have to just take the leap!

  42. I just bought the Revlon whipped foundation and am excited to try it out! You've also got me curious about the Revlon lip stains. I've never tried them but have heard great things!

  43. Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog.

What a great beauty roundup. I have not heard of some of these brands, not sure if they're all available in the UK, but I swear by anything from Benefit - worth every penny (or cent!).

I can't get through the day without my favourite lip balm - Blistex Intensive Moisteriser - it is so good.

  53. This BB and now CC [I think] cream thing is driving me nuts. I LOVE the idea, and want to try it, but anytime I try ANYTHING new on my face it pretty much hates me.

I might have to hit up a beauty store and steal some samples to see what happens once I don't look like a train ran over me :P
