Wearable Orange Lips for Spring

It was one of those days, where everything bothered me. Work was wild, I was upset over an idiotic blog comment (seriously, if you gain pleasure from being rude to others, you have problems), and my sinuses were misbehaving. But one of my favorite tricks instantly cheered me up: bright, orange lips. Try it! For a brief moment I forgot the 320 unanswered emails, the baby spit up on my shirt, the mean internet girls, and the fact that I was once again playing dollhouse for the 3894th time that day. Orange has been my go-to lip this spring (and it's great for summer too). And it's completely wearable--if you think red is intimidating, try orange. Here are some of my budget-friendly (all drugstore!) options, so if you didn't think you could wear orange, think again.



Easiest to Apply: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous

  • I mean, does it get easier than a lip crayon? You don't even need a mirror--just a quick swipe and you're set. Plus, it lasts a while, and has a mint scent. This looks great on lighter skin tones, but I am light-medium and love it.
    • Elle Also Likes: Try the matte version in Audacious. Also, on some skin tones, Romantic looks orange, so give that a try. Also, the Rio Rush collection features a lipstick in Carnival Spirit that I love!

Best Value: Jordana Matte Lipstick in Tangerine Tango

  • It's $1.49 y'all! While I got mine at Kmart, get it online here. This is what I'm wearing in the top photo.
  • It's an orange-red, and VERY pigmented. Lasts all day without being drying.



 Easiest to Wear: Revlon Lipgloss in Killer Watt

  • This is definitely more of a bright coral, so for those of you who don't want to wear orange, or still find it intimidating, this shade is so wearable. I like adding it on top of lipsticks.

Orange Shimmer: Milani Brilliant Shine Lipgloss in Mai-Tai

  • This is an orange bronze shimmer that looks great on darker skin tones, and is a new favorite. Makes a great gloss for night, or on top of a lipstick.

Gorgeous Coral: Revlon Lipstick in Kiss Me Coral

  • A beautiful, classic coral lipstick.

    I really like the orange trend although I don't feel like I can pull it off all the time. I like using the Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Fruitti.
    It's a shame people have to leave nasty comments to make themselves feel better.

    Completely loving the orange lip trend! I planned on doing a post on it myself. I haven't worn any yet this season because the weather's been so rainy but when summer comes I'll be rocking orange daily. The Jordana lipstick looks really nice on you

    I love the Revlon Rendezvous. I actually just purchased MAC So Chaud which is a bright orange with reddish tones to it.

    i feel you! sometimes you need a pick me up and orange lipstick is the funnest! my friend has rendezvous she found it for like $1 at giant eagle (if you live in north west america or maybe ohio?) anyways, i have been dying for it. I have one from revlon called siren (a regular lipstick) that is a perfect orange but it is matte so its a bit drying...

    I am a big fan of the coral colour in general and have a lipstick in a similar shade. I'm not sure the name of it, but it's Covergirl, and it's the perfect subtle colour for me. Loving your colour recommendations, will check them out!

    Oh I love orange/coral lips for summer! I own the lip crayon and the lip gloss from Revlon and I love them. So I want to try the kiss me coral shade because it looks great, thanks for the recommendations Elle. And don't pay any attention to the mean girls, if I learned anything from you, you can't please everyone. Plus I'm sure those girls have nothing better to do, I think your great! :)
