I used to have a monthly resolution, something I did for several years, and I even shared a couple of those years on the blog. And then last year I switched to weekly resolutions. It was tough! This year, I found this online and decided to give this a go. Let's see my results so far:
Bad Habit: Diet Coke
Status: Fail. I always do well until the summer
New Skill: Improve my photography
Status: Every class I tried was for dslr cameras, so I need to find a basics course for my good old point-and-shoot
Person I'd Like to Be Like: Anyone who doesn't care what others think of her
Status: I've made great progress within the past year with self-esteem issues. I still have more work to do!
Good Deed: Inspired by Kerry, I want to do RAKs.
Status: I bought a stranger's coffee and gave someone change. Not exactly world-changing, hehe.
Place: Disneyworld (but I've been there before!)
Staus: DONE
Book: I didn't have a specific one
Status: I've read several, which is way more than last year. I don't see how you bloggers have time!
Letter: Still thinking about this one
Status: none
New Food: Black spaghetti
Status: It's just like regular spaghetti, but made with squid ink. What else should I try?
Better At: The fact that not everyone will like you. This is a fact of life that I can't stand, and has taken me a long time to learn.
Status: Still learning.
And since it's Memorial Weekend, the unofficial start of summer, I leave you with this advice (found on The Olive Tree):
Have a great weekend!
Be safe, behave, and be well.
Love,
Elle

These are great resolutions! I'd love to get better at photography, too. I just let my husband take all the pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is really hard to grasp the whole "not everyone will like you" thing. I remember the first time I experienced someone not liking me for absolutely no reason when I was in college and I was just floored. I was like "what did I do? How can I fix it?" and finally just had to realize that not every person will just love me. It's hard to understand that when you're a pretty easy going, nice person. Like you, I am still learning this lesson.
ReplyDeleteOh this list is such a great way to organize your goals! I also want to do more random acts of kindness this year!
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant and it's great to see you managed to fulfil some of your resolutions! xoxo
ReplyDeleteNice answers. Enjoy the holiday!
ReplyDeleteLove that last quote! And I've never heard of black spaghetti before but I'm intrigued!! Have a wonderful weekend :)

I love that last image, Elle:) Great summer resolution for sure. And yay for the ones you've done, and for trying at least, even if u didn't succeed 100% with others. The fun part is always the road to get there:D
ReplyDeletei fully support putting your phone away. it's what i've been doing a lot lately and you really do get to immerse yourself in the moment with the people around you.
ReplyDeletealso, not too shabby on the resolutions ;)

You have done well with a bunch of your resolutions! I really like the idea of putting your phone away...life can be enjoyed without social media, haha. Have a great weekend!

Great resolutions and I love that last bit of advice.
ReplyDeleteI pinned that on pinterest awhile back and have been trying to actually follow it haha.
Have a great weekend!
I just can't quit Diet Coke! It's so good. I've done a few weeks but then I always cave. I drink a ton of water though too. Thank you so much for the mention! I do find it hard with reading blogs but real books always have a place in my heart. I try to read from a book a little in the morning and before bed and more on the weekends.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day weekend, Elle! Good luck as you continue pursuing your goals this year!
ReplyDeleteANY random act of kindness is good enough girl! :D
ReplyDeleteblack spaghetti!?! i haven't even heard of this! now i wanna try it! i love trying new and different foods. one of my fav foods is frog legs, you tried them before?
ReplyDeletehope you're having fun at the beach! i bet you are :)
I love this post! Great resolutions! Before I started blogging I used to read daily and get through books in a few days. Now I barley have time to get through a couple chapters on my lunch break at work since I spend more time blogging on my lunch break :/ My resolution is to blog less and read more! I have never heard of black spaghetti. If you do eat this, please post a pic on IG!
ReplyDeleteThese are great and provide a keen focus versus year long ones.
ReplyDeleteBlack spaghetti - I wish but I'm allergic to most seafoods.
So fantastic to hear that you are following through on most of your goals! I am terrible at following through! LOL! The black speghetti sounds interesting as I have never heard of it!

Black spaghetti sounds intriguing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the memory making plan! :) Good luck with the Coke resolution - I know it's a very difficult one because the brain gets addicted to it (same as it does with drugs, actually) Best way is to stop it for 4 weeks completely, but keep some form of caffeine in your diet (say, a cup of coffee or a few cups of green tea). Anyone can do it, just keep reminding yourself why you are doing it to stay focused. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Elle!

I would love to get better at photography. Or better yet, I wish my husband would so he can take better photos for my blog;) Susan
ReplyDeleteElle, This is very inspiring. I think I will copy you! Haha

Why do you need a class for your point-and-shoot? I think it's easier if you master the instruction first. You can find it easily on the web, and just go from there. Experimenting is key ;)

Oh, I love that! Maybe I'll fill out a list like this.
ReplyDeleteBlack spaghetti? I've never heard of it. Now I'm going to have to try it!
Inspiring post! I just tried black pasta for the first time last week while visiting Boston. Loved it! T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post. I have to also work on the fact that not everyone will like you, your life still moves on without those people.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got some pretty neat things in your bag.
ReplyDeleteAs for the coke, it is fine to treat yourself in the summer. I am sure it is super refreshing on on ice when it is really hot out :)
I am more of a Snapple fan.
