Working It
I take care of 2 little girls but spend most of my time visiting your blogs and commenting!
When my DIY was published in Bust Magazine! |
Hobbies
Anything beauty-related is a hobby for me. I've been experimenting with making my own beauty products since I was 3.
sunset from last night |
I also love to travel--I've been all over the States and to 19 countries. Speaking of travel, I'll be sharing my beach trip recap tomorrow!
Food
Spaghetti, but I'm so picky about it that I rarely eat it. French fries are my weakness. Creme Brulee is my favorite dessert but I rarely indulge in it.
I don't have any pics of me in a bar, but I do love me some karaoke. |
Standard Bar Order
Not really a drinker, but Coke and Rum
Places I Shop
Being a nanny, my wardrobe is jeans and a tee shirt. There's no need to dress up--if you saw my day you'd agree. There's usually dirt or paint or baby food involved.
Because this post needs more Charlie |
Bed Time & Wakeup
I wake up at 6, turn on my phone and quickly go through emails and social media. Then I start visiting your blogs and leaving a comment. This takes up the most time out of my day--is there a trick to doing this faster?
I get home around 7 or 8, eat dinner, and then blog until midnight or so. And I'm still never caught up!
What I Blog About
I blog mostly about beauty--all aspects of it. I'm talking reviews, tutorials, tips, and more. I do blog about lifestyle as well.
Several of my friends started having kids and just let themselves go (their words). They were tired, didn't have time, and felt that they had to change their looks to be a mom. I wanted to show that you can have a beauty routine without a thousand products and it doesn't have to take long to get ready. My tutorials are beginner-easy level and take around 15 minutes, tops.
How I started Blogging/Why I Blog
I used to read beauty blogs (one of them was PopSugar and I work for them now!) and there was one that continually used to drive me crazy. The now-defunct blog had a post on summer beauty products. One product she recommended was awful (it was a product placement), one product I had a dupe for half the price, and one you could make at home. I felt I needed to start a blog to help people and save them from making these beauty mistakes.
Every week I'll see misinformation about a beauty product, bad beauty advice, or an incorrect application. I felt the need to start a blog to dispel those beauty myths that I still hear about. For example--Preparation H will do NOTHING for under eye bags. Nope. But yet I still see it recommended. I don't recommend tips I've personally tried them and can assure you of their validity. The same goes for products (note: I do have others with different skin or hair types test things so I can give good recommendations).
I blog because it makes me so very, very happy. While I'm not changing the world or anything, I know I have helped people. Not really anyone feels the same enthusiasm I do about blogging or beauty, and to have an outlet to share that is just the icing on the cake.
Now tell me more about you!
yah i love this! im excited about your beach recap tomorrow :) I totally appreciate that you only recommend products that you actually have tried AND liked! theres a lot of misinformation out there so it's nice to have a beauty blogger you can trust. xo jillian - cornflake dreams

I loved reading this and getting to know you a bit more! So cool your DIY was published-- it looks like an awesome one :) Spaghetti is one of my favorite foods too, but only when my mom makes it- it's kind of weird, but I never order it out because I'm always disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this Elle! I would have guessed you much younger--but of course the beauty blogger would know how to keep glowing, youthful skin! I didn't know you were a nanny either, I bet that can be exhausting, but fun! Anyway, keep up the great blog. I love reading, even though I don't always get a chance to leave a comment! (I should do that more, I know.)

I didn't know you were a nanny, that's really neat! If you could have a "makeover" counter to go to like Sephora or Ulta or like Belk's or something where would you suggest? I'd really like to get an update to my makeup before the holidays and thought you'd be the perfect lady to ask!

Like you, Elle, I see the need for blogs such as yours. Unfortunately, I also hear from friends (and even family members) that they don't have time to take care of themselves--to "pull themselves together" in a way that honors them--which is sad. Keep doing what you do. It does inspire! If enough of us keep sending the message out there--good things can happen. :) T. http://tickledpinkwoman.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGirl I love you and your blog!! By the way, you are 37?! I had no idea! I would have thought tops early, like 30 at most. You Look Amazing! Keep on keepin' on - love this blog of yours and read daily!!
ReplyDeleteyou look soooo much younger than you are, must be your awesome skin! ;) happy to have you as a fellow ATL blogger!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to learn more about you, Elle! And thank you for stopping my my blog on a regular basis - it's always nice to see a message from you, but now I know how busy your day is, it's even more special. x
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you don't look a day over 30! You have gorgeous skin! I might need some tips. lol I used to be obsessed with "making soap" when I was little. It was one of my favorite things to do haha! XO
ReplyDeleteGreat post, French Fries are my comfort food lol!
ReplyDeleteLoved getting to know more about you, Elle! One of my best friends lives in Atlanta and also worked as a nanny a couple of years ago. I totally agree about feeling never caught up on blogging! If you find out the secret to this, please share! lol
ReplyDeleteI love that you keep it real and try everything before you recommend it! So much fun learning more about you. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry I'm getting to this post so late...as you were saying, commenting and never feeling caught up! I did a tag the other day which asked my age and typing out 34 wasn't the most pleasant thing. :-) I always had this thing where I wanted to visit 35 countries by the time I'm 35...but I've only hit 22! :-) It was great to get to know you a little better! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs I'm new to your blog, this post came in very helpful. It seems like you're an utterly honest blogger which I like, so I'll definitely check out your posts more often. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove these...and loved learning more about you! I'm glad you give us the goods, this mama needs it!
ReplyDeleteHOLD THE PHONE. 37?!?!?!?! WHAT?!? My eyes actually bugged! I thought you were MAYBE 25-26-ish?! You look incredible!! I can't even comment on anything else because my brain went into a fugue state after reading your age. 3 words: YOU GO GIRL.
