Hey you! How's your week going? I'm happy because it's the first day of October! My birthday month! Any other October birthdays out there? Anyway, back to today's post! I'm so glad blogs exist because they can be a source of information. Growing up I didn't know that much about skin care. As a teen I used stuff for acne because I thought all teens had the same skin type, thanks to commercials. So wrong for my dry skin, but I've tested many a product since and forever am reading and studying ingredients. I get a little too excited in the skin care aisle. I often get recommendations for facial cleansers, and today I'm sharing a few of the best drugstore favorites. I have so many faves--let's consider this volume 1!
1: Dry--.If you have severely dry skin, Burt's Bees Cream Cleanser. I tend to use this in the winter months, as it is a thicker cleanser.
2: Acne--Neutrogena has a classic oil-free Acne Wash. While this is the original, the have a version for redness as well as a pink grapefruit one. I always recommend the entire acne wash line by them--love a gel cleanser for oily and acne-prone skin.
3: Natural--I had to mention the Neutrogena Naturals line. Have you tried these? These are really gentle cleansers that have no parabens, harsh chemical sulfates, dyes and more.
4. Sensitive--There's a reason Cetaphil is an award-winner time and time again. It's a very gentle formula that soothes and cleanses. And it's gentle enough for a baby's skin.
5. Oily--I have a lot of recommendations for this category, but the Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser is a really good one. It removes oil, dirt, and makeup right down to the pores. Normal and combo skin can use this too.
All products can be found at drugstores and online.
Thanks, y'all!
I really like neutrogena cleansers! I used to like the Loreal ones because they take off eye make up, too but they are really tough to find!
ReplyDeleteI like anything Cetaphil! Have you tried Philosophy's Purity Made Simple? It is my go to! susan
ReplyDeletemost drug store products destroy my face but cetaphil was the only one that didn't!

ReplyDeleteyes! great post and just in time. i have been shopping around for a new facewash -- i currently use Fresh Soy wash and i hate it..it smells like cucumber and tea and kinda makes me gag. before that i used something my mom got off qvc for years and i LOVED it but i cant find it anymore! i think im going to try cetaphil next. xoxo jillian
ReplyDeleteI try to switch up my facial cleanser every few months. After awhile I feel like it just doesn't work the same way with my skin. Currently I'm using the Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser and I love it!

The classic Neutrogena is my favorite of these, though I've tried some of the others, too. I still use the Oil-Free Acne Wash once/week for a deep clean :)
ReplyDeleteI knew nothing about skin care as a teen either! I tended to strip my combination/oily skin, which resulted in more oil and more acne. Now I use Ponds Cold Cream, which I would recommend for people with my skin type on the other side of teen acne!
ReplyDeleteyay birthday month! mine is in february lol. i definitely need a new facial cleanser, i think i will try the cetaphil or neutrogena.
ReplyDeleteI use to use cetaphil all the time and loved it! Maybe I need to switch back! I'm thinking so!

I'm trying a Burts' Bees one right now and it's okay. I just miss my old favorite! Thanks for these recommendations. I'll have to try one of them out next!

October is my birthday month too, yay for October birthdays! But yeah I've been using cetaphil for a long time but I've been looking into trying something new but I'm always scared because my face acts weird with different cleansers but I'm thinking I might try the clean and clear one because I have oily skin and it might help.

I used to swear by that neutrogena wash. Im not even sure why I switched. I think Ill try it again.
ReplyDeleteI use cetaphil now because I'm actually on meds for my skin... dang hormones! When I stopped nursing my skin went cray... not fun to experience as an adult! But I MUST try that Burts Bees in the winter! It gets so painfully dry here (have you used cetaphil moisturizing cream? not lotion. that stuff is amaaaaaazing for the winter!)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any of these except for the Burt's Bees cleanser. As you say it's amazing for dry skin and the winter months. x
