I am comparing the Earth Therapeutics Pressio Beauty Blending Sponge to the beautyblender. In the first picture, it shows them dry, and here they are saturated and fully expanded. They pretty much double in size. So they look the same--does that mean they perform the same?
Earth Therapeutics Precisso Beauty Blending Sponge
- $5.99
- I purchased it at Bed, Bath, Beyond
- Similar shape
- Similar color
- Very hard to remove water from
- Very heavy, even when saturated, and not bouncy
- Decent in application of cream and liquid products
beautyblender
- $19.95
- Comes in different sizes and colors
- Can be purchased in stores, like Sephora or online. I purchased mine at FrendsBeauty.com
- Very light, spongy and bouncy, helping to sheer or application for a natural finish
This or That:
- No contest--the beautyblender wins hands down. Although it is non-latex, the other sponge reminds me of latex sponges that can be purchased at Target, Walmart, Ulta, etc.--it just feels so heavy like those.
- NOT a dupe

As much as I hate how expensive the beauty blender is, nothing compares!
ReplyDeleteThe Beauty Blender rocks!
ReplyDeleteI really need to try the beauty blender one day... Great review, as always, Elle. x
ReplyDeleteThat stinks! I bought the Crown Brush one a while back and I think it's comparable. It's heavier but works the same.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comparison. I love my beauty blender and am always wondering about the dupes. Have you tried the Real Techniques version? I love their brushes and wonder about that sponge.
ReplyDeleteI can always count on you for an honest review! It's still surprising products that look so similar can be so different!
ReplyDeleteoh wow! good to know which one is better! thanks elle! xo jillian - stop by! I'm hosting a Freshly Picked Moccasin giveaway on cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteThis is SO GOOD and I am a totally fan of splurge or spend beauty product comparisons. Like I usually say, spending more $ on beauty tools, is usually worth it in the long run. Thanks for this!!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try one of these out - I've never used one before. Will definitely try out the "real deal"!

I've heard so many people say that the original Beauty Blender is the only way to go! I tried one of the cheaper ones and wasn't impressed. I need to try the real one!

I have this Beautyblender and I do love it, although before i got it I did have another brand that still worked okay. :) Great review.
ReplyDeleteRustic Elegance
I have never used any of these but I know tons of people love them
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you posted this! I've been using the Beauty Blender and was wondering how the dupes performed. I was debating getting one for my daughter's stocking stuffer so I think it will need to be the Beauty Blender!

I just bought my first BB last month and I'm happy I didn't settle on a dupe!! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes you really do get what you pay for. Great review!
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison post as always, Elle, I probably will pick up RT sponge to try though, read great things about it but then again, I've always use my fingers to apply my foundation, am too lazy/impatient to use tools. LOL!
ReplyDeleteReflection of Sanity
I've tried a couple similar ones too and I swear, nothing at all even compares to the BB! Great review :)
ReplyDeleteI just bought the "dupe" from Kohl's and am very happy with it. Still learning how to use them from Youtube :)
ReplyDeletelove your honesty. $20 really isn't that bad, and if I were to buy a bunch of dupes to try out and hate, I'd spend more money than the beauty blender itself, you know? sometimes you gotta go for the real thing. that being said I really love using my hands for foundation, I've used brushes and my friend's beauty blender, it's not for me!
ReplyDeleteGreat posts Elle! I've tried some BB dupes before too and none of them compare!
ReplyDeleteThese little things are so cute, although I really don't know how they work any differently than a normal makeup sponge haha. I have never tried them!
ReplyDeleteGod bless,
XO, Claire

Thanks for sharing this dupe. I've never purchased the BeautyBlender, but own the Real Techniques brush, since I've noticed that that's the closest dupe. So, coming from someone who doesn't want to pay the high pricetag, thank you for trying out the sponges that looks like dupes and letting us know!
ReplyDeleteGreat review! Sometimes the original is the only way to go!

I have the beauty blender and I love it. So light and bouncy. Perfect coverage.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like the Beauty Blender really is so much better then any of it´s knock off versions. I admit I have never tried any of these because I am so scared of germs! I always apply my foundation (old fashioned) with my fingers! ;-) xoxo, Sissi http://www.beauty4free2u.com
ReplyDeleteI've yet to try one of these, but if I do, I'll definitely stick with the original. If the knockoffs don't work as well, they're just a waste of money, however cheap.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even realize there were knock offs out there - which I probably would have bought! Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteGood to know it doesn't compare! I don't own a beauty blender and would have been tricked by the copycat!
ReplyDeleteI love my beauty blender, but gosh darn it is hard to clean!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood to know! I've been thinking about getting one for under my eyes... maybe those minis that they have now?
ReplyDeleteExcellent review! I have often wondered about these "knock off" beauty blender sponges! I love mine and that is all I use to put on my foundation :)
ReplyDeleteVery hand post, especially as Christmas nears. When shopping for stocking stuffers I know that maybe the extra $15 for the beauty blender is worth it if my gift-receivers are in love with it! I prefer a light, spongey application for sure!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,
-Stephanie Eva
I've never used a beauty blender, but it's good to know to spring for the more expensive one! Thanks for the review. :)
ReplyDeleteGah, is the Beauty Blender ever on sale though? Guess it's definitely worth the price because I know you know best :)
ReplyDeleteSo I've never tried a beauty blender at all, but I saw one at Target this weekend (some off brand, but I can't remember what it was) and I nearly bought it because it was cheap, but this makes me glad I didn't. If I want to try it, I'd rather go ahead and buy one that will do a GOOD job! :)
ReplyDeleteI own both the Beauty Blender and RT Complexion Sponge, which, as you rightly say, is the closet dupe. I love both...but I have to admit that there is a reason that everyone says that nothing compares to the original...because it's true. :-)

You know I think I got a beauty blender in swag bag last year at Lucky Fabb but I never used it...hmmm now I have to find it. Thanks for the review and the reminder.

Love these products, great post. ;-)

Thanks for this review! I love the BeautyBlender, but it does get pricey. Guess it's worth it though!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried either one of these, but knowing me I would have probably tried the cheap-o. Good to know that it's not worth it!
ReplyDelete11 brands, oh man! I love my beautyblender, I've purchased another one during that VIB sale. As expensive as it is for a darn sponge, I don't think anything can replace it!
ReplyDeletebecky ♡ star violet
I love my beauty blender and it is definitely worth the money:)
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth on my love of the BeautyBlender, but I feel better about spending the money on it after reading this!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I've been wanting to try out a blender so I am glad you did this post! I'll have to go for the beauty blender!

I love my Beauty Blender. They look so much alike but I haven't heard of anything that comes close to the Beauty Blender.
ReplyDeleteThe Beautyblender always wins! All of the dupes never seem to be quite the same. It's one of a kind, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteI have never found a good dupe for the Beauty Blender. Shame it's so expensive and a bit of a hassle to use. I have given up on it after mine got mouldy. x
ReplyDeleteRenata | Speaking Beauty UK
I always wonder if almost-identical, look-alike products stand a chance against the real thing. Great review of the Beauty Blender and definitely the type of situation where you get what you pay for! Thanks for this awesome review and your suggestion!
ReplyDeleteFunny I read this right after a coworker was telling me about these. Now I know which to get. Just bought Urban Decay Naked foundation and can't wait to try this to apply it
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't think I've found a dupe for beautyblender. It is "pricey" but I think it's worth the investment plus it lasts. How long have you had yours? Mine is about a year.
