Marsala Makeup For Every Season

Hey you! So, let's be honest here--what do you think of the new color of the year: Marsala? It's growing on me and it can be more versatile than you think! Today I'm going to share some of my fave marsala-inspired makeup. You really can wear this year-round!

The key is to think about it as a neutral, and to really think of all of the shades within it. Look at these two examples below:

Let's start off with lips, with MAC lipstick in Twig. It's very dark and marsala-related, but can be used for a variety of purposes:
I like to add it very lightly for a natural almost "stained" effect. Two more wearble (and affordable) options are Maybelline in Touch of Spice and Neutrogena in Rum Raisin. I share these in the video at the bottom.

Crabtree & Evelyn has a gorgeous shimmery shade in Cardinal, that is perfect for fall and winter, but how else can it be worn? Use it in nail art, from the very simple polka dots to the more complex. Try using it in a reverse moon or french mani. In the video I share an inexpensive drugstore alternative from Wet N Wild.

Blushes are the easiest way to wear this trendy color all year. Try using a light application before applying a cream or gel blush for longer staying power. Change your intensity in application depending on the season. This is one of those shades that looks good on everyone. Make it a little more berry if you'd like.

This is my eyeshadow steal. Right now it's $16.95 over at CoastalScents.com. You get 88 shades full of neutrals, including marsala. I'm wearing it in the video below.

Speaking of that video, I'm collabing with My Newest Addiction on our fave marsala makeup products, like some of the ones mentioned here today. PLUS Charlie makes a cameo!

Extra Elle:
  • I hope y'all watch the video. I have really worked on my video editing skills and am proud of how this one turned out!
  • Heading to my hometown this weekend for my s.i.l.'s baby shower! Baby niece coming soon!
  • I've been sharing a lipstick every day for January over on my Instagram!

  2. That is the type of colour I tend to avoid (a bit too out of my comfort zone) but the look you created is really natural and pretty. Love the look of that Tarte blush. Will try to lose my fear and experiment more with marsala. :) x

  16. Really enjoyed this video! When they first announced the color of the year, I wasn't sure that I liked it , but it turns out I have a few things in the Marsala range! Who knew I liked that color? haha
Ok, so first of all, I had no idea that Crabtree & Evelyn made nail polishes now! Gorgeous color. Also love that Maybelline Touch of Spice that you are wearing. I think that is my favorite of all the Marsala lip shades.
I recently bought a blush from Milani that I think would fall in the marsala range called Red Vino. I talked about it in my latest beauty haul (which also happens to bet he first video I've ever made ahhh): http://amateandarottweiler.blogspot.com.ar/2015/01/major-beauty-haulin.html
And yesterday I wore one of the Rimmel Lip Pencils in Spice, which is a great marsala color. You can check it out here: http://amateandarottweiler.blogspot.com.ar/2015/01/al-rio.html
And oh my gosh, Charlie Brown is the sweetest little thing! I have the biggest soft spot for my furbabies too! Hope you have a great weekend in your hometown! xx

  21. Exposed is my favorite blush of all time. I'm super pale so I have to use a real light hand when applying. But it's such a gorgeous color! I'm really liking this trend. (:

  28. MAC Twig is my go to lipstick. I don't think I could do marsala on the eye. I love it for clothes though.

Will try to catch the video this weekend! At work and without headphones today so I can't even do it on the train.
