Today I'm sharing my best tips for how I get smooth and silky hair. I'll be using shampoo, conditioner, round brushes, and a blow dryer with the nozzle attachment. No fancy or extra products hair tools will be needed.
The shampoo and conditioner I'll be using is Smooth & Silky from Head & Shoulders. It takes your hair from frizzy to silky in 1 wash! I am serious! I am really impressed with it. Head & Shoulders has a variety of products, like the yummy-smelling Green Apple, to give you healthy, nourished, and beautiful hair. They've been around 50 years, leading the way in scalp care. And when it comes to beauty-focused hair care, you can’t choose anything that will leave your scalp unhealthy, am I right?
Don’t you love the new design on the limited-edition bottles? You can get these at Target! Target is my go-to beauty destination—who doesn’t love that place? It’s kind of impossible for me to leave there empty-handed, especially when it comes to beauty products.
After I wash and condition with Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky, I gently squeeze the water out of my hair. This is a must-do first step, since these products really help with the frizz. Normally I would have to use additional products that weigh hair down, but not with Smooth & Silky. Unless I am getting dressed, I prefer to keep a towel around my shoulders and let my hair air dry. But once my hair is about 70% dry, I attach the nozzle on my dryer and start with my sides (or bangs if you have them) using a round brush.

Above you'll see an animated gif of the basic method of drying hair. I start with a small section of hair, starting at the root, and following it down to the ends with the dryer. I repeat this until dry.
So this where the tips come in! I also go underneath the section, like pictured above for volume, focusing at the roots. I go back over the section by drying above the hair to keep it smooth, just like in the animated gif.
This is optional, but sometimes I use a smaller brush for bangs or the areas around the face to give tighter curls. The round brush will give that.
If you are wanting more of a wavy look, I twist the section away from the face and dry.
I also will twirl it after drying to help it hold the waves.
And that's it! I hope you enjoyed my tips on how to get smooth & silky hair using Head & Shoulders. If you're interested in purchasing your own, I've got an offer for you! Buy 3 Head & Shoulders products and get a $5 Target gift card! This offer is good through 5/16.

These are really great tips, Elle! I still need to learn how to use the round brush, I'm still awkward with holding the brush and hair dryer.

I've never tried Smooth & Silky from Head & Shoulders, but it sounds great! I'm always open to trying new frizz-fighters that will tame my hair. I'm also going to try your twisting method to get some pretty waves.
ReplyDeleteYou really do have the most gorgeous hair Elle. Thanks for all of the tips. We're big fans of shampoos with oils in them that also help!

I don't know what my deal is, but my hand coordination is not the best when it comes to round brush and hair dryer at the same time. I need more hands! haha! Love this look on you.
ReplyDeletegreat tips! i am pretty terrible at using a round brush. i always tangle up my hair!! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteYour hair is always beautiful!! I haven't tried any head and shoulders before. And I am so bad at round brushing my hair ha ha!
ReplyDeleteOK - I'm confused... help... when you twist & use the brush, are you twisting WITH the brush? I'm afraid I'd get it all caught up in my hair... I want those pretty waves!
ReplyDeleteI need to get that shampoo & conditioner ASAP!
Wavy, fine and frizz, that's my hair as well... I can't say I have a hard time styling it, but it's far from practical :( I liked your tips and I love green apple, so I believe this Head'n'shouldes is amazing! I want to thank youhere for your lip balm tips - I have been using some and they are fabulous!

My hair is very similar and I really can't wear it naturally since it is weird wavy. I use the same round brush blow up to get mine straight.
ReplyDeleteI remember really liking the smooth & silky line from head & shoulders. I'm surprised that it sounds like we have the same hair type, yours always looks so beautiful! Maybe I'll give that line a try again!
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial and tips, Elle! My hair gets pretty frizzy and wavy if I don't tame it, too. Love your blow drying tips! I honestly suck at drying my hair. It seems so simple, but it's not! Hopefully this will help!

This is how my hairdress blow drys my hair...I wish I had the patience to do it like that! Your hair looks great. I should try a frizz shampoo like this one. My hair tends to get frizzier in the summer.
ReplyDeleteOoh your hair really does always look so smooth and shiny Elle! I loved these tips for blow drying! I'm getting better at creating waves using my flat iron and also just twisting, but I never really know how to have my dryer help me. So thanks!
ReplyDeletetotally needed that volume tip! My hair is always falling flat
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I've gotta try the twisting thing, great tip!!

ReplyDeleteYour hair always looks shiny and gorgeous. I could never master the round brush. I wish I could. I usually just wash my hair and let it air dry and hope for the best!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is beautiful! I love all of the hair drying tips! Also, thank you for your sweet comments on my blog lately. I've been under some stress, and your sweet words were a comfort to me.
ReplyDeleteYour hair always looks so phenomenal, so you are definitely doing something right! Thanks for the tutorial; it's just in time for summer!
ReplyDeleteOMG I seriously love this because Head and Shoulders is my favorite shampoo & conditioner!! People probably see it in my shower and immediately assume it is for dandruff but omg I buy it because it makes my hair super long and healthy!! It prevents your scalp from drying up so in turn it helps your hair grow!! Glad someone gets me! xoxo A

cool! You taught me some things I didn't know, here! :) Like...twisting your hair and drying it to achieve waves! Do you think that might be too much for hair that is already slightly wavy/curly?
ReplyDeleteyour hair is fabulous! definitely need to check out head & shoulders. i had no idea about squeezing the water out of your hair, how interesting! i'll need to do that.
ReplyDeletei'm way lazy to do anything with my hair. i just wash using an all natural shampoo/condition and then leave it to air dry. your hair is so pretty!
ReplyDeletelooks so pretty!! thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect and thank you so much for your support!! I deeply appreciate it ;)
