Why Should You Watch the Video?
- May in review:
- We celebrated my dad's life on what would have been his 60th birthday. It's been two months since he died, and it's still not easy. But this was a wonderful day. I share pics in the video.
- It was also my beach trip! Have I talked about this enough yet? No, hehe.
- Fave post of the month
- #JALS challenge
- This month's Just a Little Something Challenge was to choose happiness. And I really worked hard at that. When going through grief it's easy to suffer in silence and be sad. Instead I reminded myself of a
- Fave beauty products:
Colleen Rothschild Beauty--When a brand starts popping up on blogs, sometimes I throw a side-eye. Is it good or hype? I had saved a list of products to purchase when I was contacted to try this brand for myself. It is SO, so good, y'all. Totally worth the hype! From the high-performance luxury skincare brand I received the Age Renewal Super Serum, Dual Enzyme Polish, and my personal favorite, the Radiant Cleansing Balm. I have dry skin, but there are a host of products to cater to your skin needs.
- May Ipsy Bag
I loved just about everything I got in this adorable bag!
- It Cosmetics CC Cream--already own this and love it.
- NYM De Ja Vu Do Style Extender--own this as well and love it.
- KCO Colors--This arrived broken and unusable. I hear the same happened to others. I couldn't find it on the Ipsy website to report.
- St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Lotion--loved it.
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Lip Pencil + BONUS Revolution High-Color Lipgloss--loved it but I have other options that are much cheaper. Really enjoyed the lip gloss samples too. They were out of my color comfort zone but were fun to try.
- Skone Cosmetics Pretty Eyeliner--This was in navy, so it won't get as much use.
Have a great weekend! Be safe, behave, and be well. Love, Elle

Loved reading ur post n knowing ur favs.. Happy weekend xo
ReplyDeleteSounds like the ceremony you hosted in honor for your Dad was beautiful! I'm glad you focused on being happy this past month :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for June, funny you mention you are going to clean out the clutter, because that's what I've been doing all week here (and will probably continue to do for the next week or two). Throwing out junk, donating things we don't need anymore, etc. It feels SO good to have a clear, organized space.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xx

The river where you held the ceremony for your daddy looks so beautiful. I also love your goal of clearing out the clutter. It's an important thing to do, both physically and mentally. You're absolutely right that sometimes, you just need to let people go and focus on those who are worthy of your friendship.
ReplyDeleteI've been needing a new brush - I have to check those out! The new ipsy bag is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI need to send you a link of. 40 day challenge that takes each day, 30 minutes each day to get rid of junk.... good for you getting rid of people who aren't supportive.
ReplyDeleteglad the celebration of your dad went well
I really want to try that IT cosmetics concealer! Going to watch your video!
ReplyDeleteThe pillow would NEVER, EVER sound crazy to me. I think that is the best idea I have ever heard of I will have to get one made when I lose my dad (ugh, don't want to think about that). Glad you went to the river for your dad...that reminds me of the film Big Fish :) Also, letting go of negative people in your life is something that is SO necessary for your health. I had to do that last year, and I am all the better for it.
ReplyDeleteYou look great, and I love the glasses!
Aw I love Charlie's cameo! It's lovely that your family celebrated your dad's 60th birthday in a way that was so meaningful to him. The pillow is super sweet and I can see how it would comfort you.

i think the pillow sounds great! and that river is gorgeous.i think the ceremony sounded lovely. i am sorry again for your loss, Elle - I'm sure it's not any easier.
ReplyDeletei think it's awesome that you are cutting ties with the toxic people in your life.. you don't need that, who has time for people who aren't supportive?!
What a nice celebration for your dad! And I love the idea of clearing the clutter. I do it periodically and it feels so liberating. Especially eliminating toxic people. They need to go.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your nail polish color.
Love your chit chats Elle, happy be-lated to your father, I know he is looking down on you and is so proud of your strength. <3
ReplyDeleteThose brushes are gorgeous and I've been considering picking up some of the Colleen Rothschild stuff so I'm glad to hear you love it. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove your #JALS challenge this month--I need to remember to choose happiness too. After both you AND Megan from megintime raving about Colleen Rothchild I may need to try it! And you always make me want to sign up for those Ipsy bags, so fun!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of those brushes! Items like that you can use for multiple styles are a huge plus in my book! I also love the idea of the pillow. It's so much nicer than just having a shirt of his in your closet. This way you get to see it and hug it all the time! I really like the message, too! It sounds like you had a really nice ceremony to honor your father. You have a wonderful guardian angel now! And lastly, thank you so much for mentioning me!! I am so glad that lotion has been helping you. It still puts me to sleep right away. Placebo effect or not-I am just glad it works! ;)
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice celebration for your dad! So touching. I love st tropez too. It's the best!
ReplyDeleteI think ghe video catch up is a
Great idea!
Gah! The May ipsy bag looked so appealing - I wish I would have signed up in time. I'm thinking about signing up for June. I get so scared of subscription services sometimes - I feel as if I'm going to pay for products that I hate. :/

I have to apologize to write a quick comment, but I wanted to read your post and comment, and I did (am doing), but my migraine is insane, need to take a nap :) I like your glasses, I really think you look beautiful - and the Ipsy box too - I would like to try the St. Tropez One Night Only Instant Glow Lotion :)

ReplyDeleteYour JALS project sounds interesting. I think it's good to take a little time for you. I'll have to check out the hashtag.
Also, Charlie is such a cutie! I hope you're enjoying your weekend, Elle!
What a great May recap, Elle. I am sorry about your dad again, wish you would have celebrated his 60th liing and kicking it. You look great in this video. Those pretty frames fit you and I loe the gingham shirt and your cup. Also, I need a new round brush so don't mind if I From Square (wider) one.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this skincare brand before, but love the look of packaging, so will definitely check. And wow, those brushes - so high-tech and beautiful! x
ReplyDeleteI blowout my hair at home all the time so I'll have to check out the Fromm brushes. The shirt made into a pillow is such a great way to keep him close. Glad it is helping.
