Story time, y'all! I thought I would share a couple of embarrassing moments...with my clothing!
Oh yes, I'm sure after reading these you'll be able to relate.
First up, the Shakedown!
Picture it: I'm running to a blogging event and my dress starts riding up, thanks to static cling. I immediately start to wiggle and tug at my dress.
This ladies, is called the Shakedown, a classic move experienced by many. And then I notice the hottest guy looking at me and laughing. As is my fashion, I turned bright red and then nearly walked into a wall.
So by the time I got home that night, I was deep in the throws of Friction Affliction. This is that good old bow-legged stride I do to avoid my thighs touching because it feels like fire when they do. Thigh fire is hot, and not in a good way.
Finally, finally, y'all, I found solutions. Allow me to introduce Jockey® Skimmies® Slipshort. I have been officially #SavedBySkimmies!
What in the world are Skimmies? They are a super lightweight slipshort that keep panty lines to a minimum and offer anti-static defense. They smooth like a slip but cover like shorts. And they are a must-have in my wardrobe. You need them and you will love them.
They come in 3 styles:
Original Skimmies®
Smooths like a slip, covers like shorts. Offers a smooth, polished look under fitted-to-flowing skirts and dresses. The original design is available in short and regular lengths. Silky-smooth microfiber stretch fabric for smoothing coverage without restriction. 8 colors, from S-2XL. $20
Anti-static Skimmies®
Resists static and allows clothes to glide. Wear under pants or other cotton fashions and say good-bye to cling. Wide, flat leg hem for a stay-put fit. Targeted stretch zones flatter your natural curves. $20
Wicking Skimmies®
Breathable mesh panels keep you comfortable and dry all day. Perfect for working out. Moisture-wicking, quick dry fabric helps prevent chafing. Six colors, $22
And here's my Skimmies saving me this summer! Now I feel comfortable wearing this cute flowy, dress!

I think the shakedown happens to me everytime I wear a dress lol!! And how awesome are those skimmies! I think they would help with both of these problems!
ReplyDeleteThose are such great things to be able to wear under a dress! I think we have all had that happen to us and these would be worth every penny to help that
ReplyDeleteHahaha...this is why I don't wear dresses too much:D These Skimmies are pretty cool though. Man....why didn't I come up with these ideas?!?!
ReplyDeleteI have a pair and they are great!

These are awesome. I NEED some. I have the worst luck with friction affliction.
ReplyDeleteThis would solve the slip problem of it slipping below the hemline of your dress or skirt and showing! And give me extra coverage when I am sitting on the floor or getting up from the floor versus a slip. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove that it comes in 6 colors and yes I know the feeling of not having my thighs run together all too well! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I think too many women know this all too well!
ReplyDeleteThese are genius! Anti-static is such a great way to go especially with those thin little summer dresses. Thanks for sharing.

I NEVER EVER where a dress on the weekends without some sort of spandex short. Chasing a one year old has those oops moments and I don't think everyone needs to see my strawberry print hot pink undies. (; I actually wear a different brand, but I'm not 100% happy with them. I will surely check these ones out!
ReplyDeleteGreat info! Thanks!! xx, Karen // Glam Karen
ReplyDeleteI have totally done the shakedown before ahahha!
ReplyDeletewww.amemoryofus.com
HA, love the thigh fire description! Been there for sure. I need to try these.
ReplyDeleteMimi & Chichi
This is a brilliant idea and I rarely wear a dress because of these same reasons! Great giveaway, Elle. I'm going to hop over and check these out.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I have theses and love them. Nothing worse than getting stuck doing the shakedown.
ReplyDeleteI wear dresses all the time when it's warm and I so need a pair of these!
ReplyDeleteRowena @ rolala loves

Oh yes, the shakedown is embarrassing, but almost running into a wall after that, too, sorry to say that! I mean, I feel with you, I would be that way as well! Last week, when I left university, it was raining a lot and there were people waiting for it to stop and the last stair was so slippery, that I feel down on the feet of a guy - and I feel mortified till now! The Friction Affliction is awful. I loved the solution! I will think of it the next time, cause it really hurts!
ReplyDeleteDenisesPlanet.com
They almost look like biker shorts - which I love to wear under short dresses that can fly up :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post dear! Hope you have a lovely day.

Yes, since I wear a lot of dresses in the summer I don't want to pull a Britney slip up so these would save the day!
ReplyDeleteOh man I HATE when your thighs rub together and cause chaffing. That is the WORST! These should def help that situation!
ReplyDeleteHaha I hate it when that happens, it feels so weird and uncomfortable. What a fabulous idea, I could definitely use these :-P
ReplyDeletethese are fabulous! i have these cute dance shorts i wear under all my dresses and skirts. it also stops the dress / skirt going into your butt crack. hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteSo funny Elle, and we totally feel you. Sounds like these shorts are a total problem solver.
ReplyDeletexx 365Hangers
Oh my goodness, I already do this, black shorts under my shorter dresses!

Sparkles and Shoes
I have experienced all of those things and I have a wedding at the end of the month so I will definitely be purchasing a pair. I'm so glad you shared these, you're the best!!
ReplyDeleteMine just arrived in the mail the other day too! I haven't tried them yet... looks like I need to!
ReplyDeleteThese would be perfect to wear under shorter summer skirts and sundresses! Especially when it's windy out!

I can totally relate to both those situations because those are things that happen to me a lot, especially the chaffing. I will definitely look into those because chaffing is no joke especially after a long day!

Oh man, static is just awful!!! This is such a good idea. I wouldn't mind not having my thighs rub with that under a dress! And if it sort of slims a little...I am all about that too!!! Us girls gotta share all the secrets :)
ReplyDeleteNeed these! Can't stand static. I usually try the sprinkle of water on my dress/skirt, a little lotion, or a fabric sheet.
ReplyDeleteFun post!

I have a pair and I hate that they roll down then give me an unnecessary muffin top wth! Def going to check out this pair. And I seriously thought I was the only one that dealt with the thigh fire. It's awful and mine will start to get hives which is hellacious 😩
ReplyDeleteThese look to work great & you know the funny thing is, every time I pulled down my dress I feel like my friends would want it to ride up. I'm not sure what that said about my college friends, BUT the dress riding up was apparently NOT an issue ;) xx
ReplyDeleteWould love these for a little extra security walking around in summer skirts! Thanks for hosting :)
ReplyDeleteI tweeted here: https://twitter.com/nicoleisin/status/608829584407011328

What a funny, refreshing post!! I love how you can always laugh about these things, Elle! These skimmies look great. I sometimes wear these gym shorts - that actually look strikingly similar - just because I feel more comfortable. You never know when the wind will surprise you!
