This month I:
- had a 4th of July party (and gave these away as favors)
- hung out with my fam at the GA Aquarium
- had a pool party
- finished 3 audiobooks
- went to a blogger dinner meetup
- spent too much money at the Nordstrom sale
- broke a pair of unbreakable headphones
- ordered a new pair and then broke them a day later. #clumsy
I also completed my #JALS (Just a Little Something) challenge. That means you pick a goal for 1 month. For July, I wanted to focus on getting rid of clutter, and I did! I think I'll do another cleanout before fall really gets here.
For August, I am focusing on getting healthy. I have gained weight in the 5 months (almost) since my Daddy died. The fact that I have noticed and want to do something about it (I've already started, like in this post on my salmon salad) is the first step. Please let me know if you'd like updates! I'd love for you to join me with a goal of your own.
And now for a little chit chat video! Please watch:
What did you think of the video? How was your July?
Before I go, I have several giveaways ending today.

Extra Elle:
- I am so glad Friday is here! Ok, who isn't? But still! I am looking forward to getting caught up on blogs and comments. I am so far behind. It's been a crazy work week.
- Speaking of work, I'm a nanny during the day! I don't talk about it much to protect their privacy, but they are great kids. #biased And this week I celebrated 5 years there. I was completely surprised they remembered and felt special. I even got a huge number 5 balloon, flowers, and cupcakes. It's nice to be validated.
- Today's a double post day! Check back at 10am EST. Thank you for supporting my blog. We made it to 7 million (all-time, not daily) views!
Thanks for the video Elle! Would love to hear about your weight-loss. Have a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm drinking propel grape water. My July has been great. It was my birthday month. Plus I switch over from working night shift to day shift.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see health related post. I'm also on a journey to lose weight. So far I'm down 16 pounds and have 11.4 to go. To be at my goal weight.
I hope you have a great weekend.

So awesome to hear you had a fab July 4th, Elle:) And thank you for your honesty about your weight issues. We all have them, and I seriously think anyone who has said they've never been concerned with their weight are lying, you know.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute post and sounds like you had an awesome month, minus breaking the headphones, lol:) Also, congrats on the 7 million views that's such an amazing accomplishment!! Enjoy your weekend.

I'm always interested in supporting a girl who wants to get and stay healthy. Physical health has a lot to go with emotional health too. Love and hugs, Elle. You can do this!
ReplyDeleteSetting one goal a month sounds totally attainable. I may be joining you in that challenge!
Somehow I don't know why the video didn't open - not your fault, but "the country"-thing (not allowed), but I am glad I read the things you did, like the 4th of July party, the pool party, gathering with family and also a blogger meeting... all so nice! Yes, July flew, just like that! It's even scary how time flies! I am also trying to declutter, so it was nice to have your incentive, cause one of your goals was that, so I will go on! It's a room that I didn't even know where to start, but it's getting better - I hate mess, and it was making me sick (just one room). By the way, yes, good that you saw that about the weight now. It happened to me. When I saw I got 44 lbs (horrific) and I lost some of them, but still a struggle. I used to be thin, now people say "nice curves" and I only here curves =fat, not nice. So, yes, do it now, better sooner than later!

You've had a busy month. Yes, please update us on your weight-situation. Many of us put on pounds after an event like yours; it's very natural. Getting physically healthy is moving in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteYou had quite a month. Breaking unbreakable headphones sounds like something I would do. Yes would love to hear more about your weight loss journey.

Loved your video! And I definitely want to see updates and more posts on what you're doing to get healthy. I'm trying to do the same right now but I like to share and recieve tips and recipes from others! I'm totally in on this JALS challenge!
ReplyDelete7 million?! That's great and I know so rewarding fr you. You put so much work into this blog and it's nice to know it pays off. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteWow Elle. I am so proud to be one of the 7 million. (: I haven't had a chance to watch your chit chat yet, but I am very eager. I'll drop you a little YouTube comment when I do. Much love and have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your dad, that has to be rough :( Congrats on 7 million page views! And, I think a lot of people overspent on the Nordstrom sale. Lol! I need to get in on their next sale, seriously!

Atlanta was my absolute favorite place to live around the 4th for all the fireworks!!! We used to go up to the rooftop of my apartment community and could see so many different shows :) The aquarium is amazing too! I used to have a membership when I lived there and went back to visit last July. So cool you got to spend time there with your family.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on needing to buckle down and shed a few pounds! I am down for motivating each other. Have a great weekend!!!
I didn't know about your dad since I just found your blog so recently. I'm so sorry. :(
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet that the family you nanny for remember your 5-year anniversary and celebrated it with you. :)
Holy cow! 7 million views! What an amazing accomplishment! I remember that essie top coat and keep meaning to pick it up. I've heard lots of good things!
ReplyDeleteI am drinking some really good tropical fruit herbal tea! I have put on 7 pounds or so this year (too much time working = less time for exercise) and need to motivate myself to make healthier choices! I have two old mobility-related injuries that bother me and if I gain weight they bother me even more. I would totally tune in if you decided to talk about your health.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on five years of being a nanny and that's great you love the kids so much! I love the idea of focusing on one goal each month - good luck in August! I started a whole blog that is my attempt on reconnecting with my inner child. More posts to come really soon - i need to figure out a set schedule, but if you want to check it out: www.forgotmyage.com

you broke two pairs of unbreakable headphones?? i think you should get your money back, haha!
ReplyDeleteGrief will creep the weight right on without a blink. Good for you taking control back :) I loved the 21 Day fix to help me get back on track.
ReplyDeleteLove your nails match your mug :)
I am really trying to get healthy lately too! I've just started working out again and it's nice to get back into the swing of things :) xxx
ReplyDeleteBusy month! Sounds like fun! I'm glad your family came up to visit! And that you had such a blast at your 4th party! And look at you getting so involved with other bloggers. That's awesome! Hooray for decluttering!
ReplyDeleteGirl, grief is real. I wish I had better words of wisdom other than that it just sucks. I'm glad that you are in a place where you are ready to start caring for yourself again. I think it's awesome that you are willing to open up about that. I would, of course, love to read about your process, but I understand if you decide to keep it private as well. *hugs*
This summer is flying by! Best of luck with your August JALS challenge. I know something like that can definitely cause you to be less conscious of what you're eating or take away from you taking care of yourself.
