Prices and availability vary depending on the store.
- $7.99
- 16 shades
- SPF 18
- BEST FOR:
- normal
- dry skin
- COVERAGE AND FINISH:
- light-slightly medium
- dewy
- OVERALL:
- Gives that dewy, natural look that dry-combo will love
- However, this is simply a "new look" for this foundation, and I totally fell for the repackaging. I told y'all I'm a sucker for anything with "new" on it! There is a matte+poreless version I didn't try, so if you have, please let me know your thoughts in the comments.
- $7.99
- 10 shades
- recently used in my Sweat-Proof Makeup Tutorial
- SPF 20
- BEST FOR:
- normal
- oily
- combo skin
- COVERAGE AND FINISH:
- light-medium
- matte
- OVERALL:
- This is another case of repackaging--you might remember it came in a tube with black cap--but it's now in a glass bottle with the added comfort serum.
- I liked this foundation and found it to last. It wasn't too drying for my dry skin and has been used often this summer. I would repurchase.
Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin
- $11.99
- SPF 15
- 12 shades
- BEST FOR:
- combo
- oily
- COVERAGE AND FINISH:
- medium
- matte
- OVERALL:
- I love that this has a pump!
- I didn't detect my skin looking any better or worse.
- If you have large pores and/or fine lines, skip or use with primer.
L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte
- $12.99
- 12 shades
- BEST FOR:
- combo
- oily skin
- COVERAGE:
- demi-matte finish that is medium to full coverage
- OVERALL:
- I have dry skin but love using this in blog pics and videos. It really is matte and lasts all day.
- This is my fave of the 5 I tested and would repurchase.
- $11.30
- 7 shades
- BEST FOR:
- dry
- normal
- oily can use but this stays tacky all day
- COVERAGE:
- light to slightly medium
- Dewy finish
- OVERALL:
- This also has a pump and I love that!
- While this is advertised as oil-free, I found that it worked well on my dry skin.
- The "luminous" aspect is that it stayed tacky all day, so it was very moisturizing and looked great on skin. This is not a sparkly or glittery foundation, so the glow comes from the foundation consistency.
Have you tried any of these foundations?
Extra Elle:
- I also finished a few audiobooks recently, including How to Make Friends and Influence People (really long, with old-school advice), Martin Short's autobio (very sweet and funny), and Holly Madison's autobio (she seemed so miserable that is was almost unbelievable).

I've been wanting to give that Rimmer one a go. Great to know it's good. I'll be adding the L'Oreal one too on the list now.:) TY for the review, Elle, as always.
ReplyDeletePS I read that How To Win Friends book when I was in elementary school! I loved it then, and I still do:)
I am definitely going to have to give a couple of these a try. Great review!

The Loreal one intrigues me. :) Thanks for sharing and have a great week!

I've been wanting to try that L'Oreal one for a while - I don't typically wear foundation but sometimes I find it necessary and I hear good things about that one (not lease from you, of course!).

I think I might be living under a rock for the last two months since I've never even heared about any of these!
ReplyDeleteI love the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, so hopefully that foundation wouldnt disappoint :)
Thanks for the awesome review!

I'm not a huge foundation fan but the Infallible one sounds amazing! I need something that stays matte all day!

I just recommended Infallible to my sister last week - she has been on the hunt for the perfect matte foundation forever!

Love that you said you would repurchase Infalliable because that's the one i've had my eye on from the drugstore! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteMy skin is acting super oily in this summer heat, so I have been trying all kinds of foundations. This post is super helpful Elle! Thanks!

I am coming back to USA soon and I need a new foundation. I will try some of your reccomendations. Thanks for the reviews, Elle! =)
ReplyDeleteGreat roundup, there have been so many new drugstore products this year! I've been curious about the new CG foundation since I love the 3-in-1, so I'll have to try that out.
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the Maybelline! I love a dewy look. My only issue with drug store foundations is that I cant shade match. That is why I am always hesitant to try them. So thanks for the reviews! Susan
ReplyDeleteGreat reviews!! I have not tested a new foundation in 15ish years. I fear for what it would do to my skin!!
ReplyDeleteGina || On the Daily Express
I think I would opt for the Covergirl, because it has a dewy finish, but as I love Rimmel I would love to try it too! Maybelline is also nice, and I want to try the Superstay one! So I have chosen 3 out of 5 :) But the prices are good, so why not!

I have been wanting to try that foundation from L'Oreal. I think I need to buy it soon. Thanks for posting about it.
ReplyDeleteLove the reviews Elle. I am in the market for a new foundation so I need to check this out. Also I agree with you about Holly. While I enjoyed reading it (because it was a tell all), it seems so sour grapes. The Holly I remember from the show was NOT like that.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for doing all the investigating and trying out! I've been using the same foundation- Tarte 24hr Amazonian clay because I'm oily mess skin but maybe it's time to switch it up with something else!

The only one of these that I've tried is the Covergirl Stay Luminous. I'm interested in trying the Rimmel and Maybelline though. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hated the original FitMe foundation so will try this new Dewy one and hopefully I'll like it better. I am also curious about the CoverGirl foundation and am planning to pick that up when there's a sale.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I've tried most of these ones. I like the maybelline matte and Poreless one! I tried the maybelline better skin but I have mixed feelings about it. I've been hearing good things about the Rimmel one, will try that next!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you did this post. I desperately need a new drugstore foundation and I always get so overwhelmed with the options when I go to Target.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast at Gracey's
I would love to hear Holly Madison's book on audio. I almost picked up the book yesterday .
ReplyDeleteI think you sold me on the Rimmel lasting finish foundation from your video tutorial although I do like medium to full coverage foundations.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any of these, but the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation sounds like a good match! I'm currently using a Make Up For Ever matte foundation. I love it, but it is a bit pricey.
ReplyDeleteThe L'Oreal Infalliable is my HG foundation. I want to try the Maybelline Better Skin and Rimmel Lasting Finish. Great choices!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try the CoverGirl. I like their products.
ReplyDeleteI am currently not using a drug store foundation and it is not cheap and I am almost out. I feel like all of my favorites run out at the same time and it can be costly! This post couldn't have come at a better time :)

The Maybelline Better skin did not work well on me at all. But I do like the Loreal and the Rimmel!!! I have very sensitive skin with an awful uneven texture. (Bad Genes) :(
ReplyDeleteGreat reviews thought Elle! I love hearing about drugstore foundations!!!!
I haven't tried any of these but love that most of them have SPF! The Rimmel sounds like something I might need to try!

Doused In Pink
It never ceases to amaze me how L'Oreal tends to be the favorite in comparison tests. I totally agree with the love of their products and the overall quality so I'm adding this to my next CVS list ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Maybelline Matte+Poreless and the L'Oreal Infallible are my two favorites and what I use on a day to day basis. I'm interested to try the Rimmel one though. I'm all about anything that is sweat proof. This heat is no joke!
ReplyDeleteI'll be receiving the Better Skin one from Influenster so I'm excited to test it out for myself!

did you like how to win friends and influence people even though it was old school?
ReplyDeletei need to try that L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte one, i keep seeing it everywhere. i have been using a covergirl one, but i don't think it's that one you've got listed, but it's pretty good.
I haven't tried any of these foundations, but I really want to try the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte. I appreciate the mini reviews on all of these!
ReplyDeleteI going to have to check these out. I hope you have a great week.

I have the hardest time picking foundation shades in stores with all the weird lighting, so I end up at Sephora for my foundations. It is worth it to me to know I am getting a color that matches haha. I wont lie that I am intrigued by the Loreal one though.
ReplyDeleteI read an article in a magazine about Holly and her book that came out. It surprises me how miserable she was too and it just goes to show you how fake reality TV is because she always seemed so bubbly and happy on the show.
L'Oreal Infallible sounds so great! Finding the right foundation is super tricky.

Oooooh awesome reviews! I've lived in Asia for about 14 years and I have never worn foundation. I've just stuck with BB Creams and CC Creams as well as a few pressed powders. I think I may just give Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth a try. I'm a sucker the dewy look. I think it adds to that youthful glow. I just have a question. I feel silly for asking, but I think you are a pro, so I'm just gonna ask you. Is there a difference between a BB Cream and a foundation? If there is, is it ok to put on my bb cream then foundation over it?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely need to try out some of those foundations. Since I tend to only wear BB Cream, but sometimes it would be nice for a little more coverage.

Cover girl is one of my favorite drugstore brands - it's always nice to find some less expensive foundation/beauty products so I might have to take a peek for that one!
ReplyDeleteI remember you mentioning the Rimmel 25 hour and want to try the L'Oreal infallible now too!

I'm in the market for some new foundation so I appreciate this review! I think I may try the Maybelline Fit Me or the CG Stay Luminous--both sound like what I'm looking for! Thanks :)

Oooh I'm very intrigued by the Maybelline dewy fit me! I love a good drugstore find :-D
ReplyDeleteThe Loreal one sounds like a winner! I would be interested in trying the Cover Girl one too! Thanks for the great reviews!
ReplyDeleteAnother great review Elle! You are always so thorough & I think I need to try the L'Oreal Infallible now it sounds great. Have a great week:)

I like the Covergirl foundation. The Maybelline foundation sounds really good, I love the dewy look especially in the Fall.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I am missing out cause I haven't tried these. Been in love with bare minerals complexion rescue
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I'm almost out of foundation, so I am in the market to try something new.
ReplyDeletethe best foundation i've ever used was by Armani! it was pricey as hell but made me look flawless. I've tried the drugstore ones but they only irritated my skin and dried it out :(
ReplyDeleteI definitely want to try L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to check out that infallible one! Thanks for the recommendation! :)
ReplyDeleteI typically steer clear of drugstore brands only because it's limited for darker complexions. I'll have to look into some of these!
ReplyDeleteI hate the Matte and Poreless, very patchy, but I'd totally be willing to try the dewy version. I tend to get the best results when I mix foundations. (:
ReplyDeleteI will have to try the L'Oreal one, what a great recap - thank you!

I never try out new foundations, but am in need of a new one, especially with the summer heat (I know it's late july already). Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a huge fan of the Rimmel one, as it felt quite heavy on the skin. Maybe it's just because I like light bases. If you can get your hands on the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, give it a try. It's my absolute favourite from the drugstore. x

I'm almost out of foundation and think I will give the L'Oreal one a try! Thanks for taking all the work out of it!
