I love micellar waters--these are gentle cleansers used to clean skin and can be used to remove makeup gently. They feel like water and your face doesn't have to be washed after. If you wear natural or light makeup, you'll really like these. Just place onto a cotton pad or cloth and wipe away makeup.
I'm such a fan of micellar waters that I have reviewed them countless times on the blog. In fact, my last roundup of reviews was such a hit, that I spent the last few months trying out more. And unfortunately, most of these didn't make the cut. Therefore, these reviews will be short and sweet.
Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water
- $5-$20
- Sephora
- slight scent but didn't work that well and the castor oil + my skin didn't agree
Caudalie Cleansing Water
- $13-$28
- Online, Sephora
- slight scent and I love Caudalie products, but not this one--it left my skin sticky
Vichy Pureté Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Micellar
- $13-$17
- Online, Target, drugstores, ULTA
- slight pleasant scent and it worked well for me. Note, the packaging may be different than pictured.
Embryolisse Micellar Lotion Soothing and Cleansing Make-up Remover
- $22-$33
- online, Sephora
- slight scent, which I'm guessing is the witch hazel--really liked this (love the brand) but not sure I would repurchase due to price
Avene Micellar Lotion Cleansing and Make Up Remover
- $20, but I got mine for $14
- online
- loved the scent on this but this one was sticky
Boots No7 Botanics All Bright Micellar Cleanser
- $7.49
- online, Target, ULTA
- unscented and worked well--this my fave out of all of the ones tried. And it was the cheapest!
NUXE Micellar Cleansing Water with Rose Petals for Sensitive Skin
- $22
- online, Target has a foam version of this
- very lightly scented, and worked well, but the alcohol irritated my skin (but surprisingly not my eyes)
Simple Micellar Water Wipes
Have you tried micellar waters before?
What brand is your favorite?
Extra Elle:
- I was a reader of YoungHouseLove from back when they were called This Young House, and I was so bummed when they quit blogging a year ago. This podcast gives an update on their lives now as well as what they would change if they were blogging now. It's an hour, but definitely worth the listen--great advice for bloggers.
- Don't forget my linkup, The Story Behind the Picture, on the 22nd!
I still haven't tried these waters! Those wipes would be so perfect to keep in my purse to use after I run! Have a great weekend Elle!

I've never tried a micellar water but I think I need to! Glad to hear you enjoyed the wipes too, I might have to look into those for the hot FL days!

I haven't tried micellar waters yet and I'm excited that you ended up liking the cheapest--always a good thing. I might try one of those next time at I'm at Target.
ReplyDeleteI've only tried the Simple micellar water. I love the idea of the wipes! I'm going to try the Boots next time I need to restock.

I never tried Micellar waters, but I want to, and your reviews are always great (and can spare money!) I love Vichy and Caudalie as brads, in general, but since you said Caudalie didn't work well, I will avoid it. Then Boots number 7 being great is nice - they do have nice products and prices! I will definitely try that one!

I only wear a tinted moisturizer as my face makeup, so I feel like a micellar water might be good for me skin. I had only heard of the Simple product before, thanks for reviewing these!

Back in Malaysia I used to use Sephora micellar water and I loved it! It was really cheap and was great at removing my makeup. These days I'm using Marcelle and it's really brilliant too but it's at a higher price point for a drugstore.

I'll have to pick up those wipes!
ReplyDeleteI just saw on my calendar about the link up - I'm going to have a hard time deciding which pictures to use :) This is going to be fun!
Thanks for these reviews. The only micellar water I've tried is Koh Gen Do and I liked how gentle it was but then I started using oils and never went back. Maybe I should revisit micellar waters :)

I love the Simple Cleansing Water and Merle Norman makes a great one as well. I wanted to the get the Micellar wipes when I ran out, but my Target didn't have them. I will definitely be getting those next!
ReplyDeleteI don't wear a ton of makeup, but I do wear it daily, so I'm not sure if micellar water would work for me. If I did try it though I'd try the Boots--I love it when your fave is the cheapest one!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that these existed, so thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've never used any micellars waters but Im intrigued. Sounds like a great product and I love testing new facial cleaners.
ReplyDeleteI just love it when the cheapest product ends up being the best. It just goes to show you don't always have to spend a fortune to get quality with beauty products!
ReplyDeleteThe only micellar water I've tried so far is the Garnier one, and I love it so much I've repurchased it countless times!

I am still thinking of buying one. I did it long time ago and it was ok (was either Vichy or Nuxe, don't even remember now). What stopped me from getting back on the whole MW wagon was the feeling of stickiness... Maybe I'll eventually get the Bioderma... Off to read your original review - and thank you for subjecting your skin to all these! x
ReplyDeleteI'd never even heard of micellar water! Interesting!
ReplyDeleteI use the Simple Micellar Water, but I didn't know they had wipes! Definitely want to pick those up! I love these types of posts!

I have the Simple one although I haven't used it in a while. I've been cleansing with coconut oil for the past few weeks and it removed ALL traces of makeup - even the toughest stuff!
ReplyDeleteI've heard lots of good things about micellar water, and when I went in store for a makeup trial they used one on me but I hated it, it really didn't sit nicely on my skin and was sticky. never thought it could have just been the brand, haha! I assumed it meant it wasn't for me!
ReplyDeleteAway From The Blue Blog
i haven't tried any "water" products yet. would like to, though, as they sound light and easy on the skin.
ReplyDeleteBUmmer you had issues with most of them, the Boots sounds good though and in my price range.
ReplyDeleteGreat reviews girl! I will deff be picking up the Boots one! (Since I'm a cheap butt). LOL.
ReplyDeleteI have never used these products. Thanks for sharing!

I've never really heard of these water products before. Thanks for sharing though, I'm kind of interested now!
ReplyDeleteI almost picked up the simple brand one a few days ago. I want to use them in the morning to cleanse my face when I first wake up and have no makeup on. I think I wear too much to use it at night time lol!
ReplyDeleteGah! It's cray how many different kinds there is. I haven't tried micellar water, but am definitely interested in doing so!
ReplyDeletexx
I use triple action micellar only at evening cleansing, love it.
ReplyDeleteSephora one is right now my favourite, not just that we are slowly getting more of these products in Canada. Sephora version I like because it doesn't leave my skin with a weird residue or the sticky feeling. It cleans everything off, waterproof mascara is a little stubborn but just hold the product there for a while on a cotton pad a little longer than normal.

I've never used Micellar water before. It doesn't sound like they're worth the price, though.
ReplyDeleteI've been using the Simple Micellar Water, but now, I might have to try the wipes :)
