Time to test more so-called "dupes" and see if they are the real thing! Today I'm comparing MAC Rebel and Wet N Wild Sugar Plum Fairy.
MAC Rebel:
- $17
- Satin finish
- MAC stores, online
Wet N Wild Sugar Plum Fairy:
- $1.99 (I've seen it around $1.34 and as high as $3)
- Semi-Matte
- Drugstores, Walmart, online
- They look similar in the tube and similar when swatched
Side by Side:
- WNW on your left, MAC on your right
- MAC wears better/longer to me
- WNW can cling to dry patches and makes it look darker in those areas
- WNW however stayed longer on the skin--the swatch was hard to get off!
- Overall: it's a dupe!
Do you think it's a dupe?
What dupes what you like to see compared next?
Extra Elle:
- Have you entered this giveaway? It's a good one, y'all. And international!
- Not much to report life-wise, and that's fine with me. Just late hours at work this week!
This is such a great color! So good to know its a dupe!

I couldn't tell the difference between the two! The WNW is a great alternative!
ReplyDeleteYou can't tell a difference between the swatches but on the MAC looks a bit more pigmented! I just bought that color and now I'm so excited to wear it! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

ReplyDeleteThat's almost scary how alike these two are! I do like the finish of MAC lipsticks in general as well, but dang! I love WetNWild:D
ReplyDeleteBut..MAC lipsticks smell so good!!

Such a pretty color--and the dupe is so cheap!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I love finding more affordable alternatives to department store makeup. I am a total MAC girl, but I will definitely be trying the Wet N Wild lipstick now! :)

Super excited about this, Elle! I have been wanting MAC Rebel but I have bought so much lipstick recently, I didn't want to spend that much money! I'm heading to the drugstore at lunch to check out sugar plum! Thanks for sharing!

Ooh wow, one that IS a dupe! I was actually just looking for some wine/berry hued lipstick so I'll have to check out the WNW version for sure. Thanks Elle!
ReplyDeleteI may have to pick the dupe up! I need to branch out with my lip colors, and this one is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat color is gorgeous on you!!! I am totally grabbing that Wet n Wild one because I rarely wear dark colors like that but gosh do I want to! My skin tone and eyes are similar to yours so maybe it will look good :)
ReplyDeleteI really like those colors!
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on red lip colors but love dark colors so I'll def be picking up that WNW! I think I have one red color by them I like but it melted after I left it in the car LOL
ReplyDeleteThe colours are very similar indeed! Great alternative to anyone who doesn't want to splurge on the MAC one :)

Gorgeous color! I would definitely go with the Wet and Wild one although I don't usually prefer matte finishes. Nice review!
ReplyDeleteLove Rebel so much. *__*

AH I love how close in color these are! Definitely going to treat myself.
ReplyDeletexx katie // a touch of teal
When makeup is that cheap it makes me kind of nervous, I am a big fan of MAC lipstick. And that is a great color btw.

Wow, they are super similar!! I had no idea I had a Rebel dupe in my collection this whole time! I prefer the feel of MAC's formula and satin finish, but $2 or $17 (did they raise the price of their lipsticks recently!?!?) when you're on a budget? No brainer... Wet 'n Wild it is!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love!

I have Rebel and I really love that color! It's good to know that WNW is a good dupe for it, though I am such a fan of MAC lipsticks.
ReplyDeleteLove when you find a drugstore dupe! Wet 'n Wild is great for experimenting with a shade before investing in a more expensive brand
ReplyDeleteWell there you go! I am so glad to be back on the net as I was out of computer and internet for almost 2 months! On top of that doing posts on my phone, well let's just say AWFUL. I was thinking about you and praying for peace for you during the holidays. Hope you are well girl!
