"I just want my skin to glow."--I get this request every winter in person or via email. Not a surprise, given what winter weather does to skin. I've got a list of just a few (I seriously had 12, but cut the list in half for this post) that give a gentle glow to skin.
From left to right:
- Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation--Review coming next week, but this is a new fave. SO good. Gives glow without shimmer. Light coverage. At Sephora
- Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream--Not technically a foundation, but this one isn't too matte and not too luminous (my fave BB cream is Garnier). Drugstores
- L'Oreal Dream Match Lumi--One of my favorite drugstore foundations for dry skin. This is luminous and gorgeous on skin. Drugstores
- Boots No. 7 Lift & Luminate--I love this on mature skin, but this firming foundation works well for nearly everyone 20s+. Target
- Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation--My fave foundation! Think of this as the expensive version of the L'Oreal. It gives a flawless look. Sephora
- Maybelline Fit Me--A dewy foundation that gives light to medium coverage. Drugstores
What's your favorite foundation?
Let me know if you'd like more suggestions.
Extra Elle:
- Thought I hit snooze, so I woke up two hours late today. I'll take all the coffee please.
- Google Friend Connect is deleting those without a Google account from follower lists. Please be sure to follow me on Bloglovin so you can see my posts. Thanks y'all.
A good foundation in the winter is a must. My skin is always dry and pale, not a good combo. I hate waking up late, bring on the coffee!

Love this! Have you tried the new Stila Aqua Glow Serum foundation? It's a new winter go-to for me. So glowy!
ReplyDeletegreat list! man if i wore foundation i think i'd go for a bb or cc cream :)

I don't wear foundation anymore but it's good to know these work during the colder months. I'm all about a dewy finish these days.
ReplyDeleteI need to repurchase L'Oreal Dream Match Lumi, it's one of the most stunning foundations from drugstore. I had to throw mine out because it was more than three years.

I have never tried any of these and will have to! I am currently using smashbox liquid halo and I like it, but I wish it lasted longer (meaning all day). I got a sample in my last Sephora order of Guerlain lingerie de peau foundation and I may have to pull the trigger and get a full size, my skin has never looks so flawless but it's hella expensive.
ReplyDeleteI've been using Pur's tinted moisturizer, but I probably need something more hydrating for the winter months. I need to check out that Match Lumi.
ReplyDeleteI didnt know that about Google - they are always making changes making life more difficult
ReplyDeleteMy mom uses the maybelline fit me year round. It's her favorite!
ReplyDeleteGreat list Elle! I just bought the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and I really like it so far!
ReplyDeletehahaha at waking up 2 hours late. hate when that happens! i am a huge fan of the fit me foundation, though i've heard great things about the lumi so good to know it's one of your faves.
ReplyDeleteI need to give some of this a try! i have both cool and warm undertones and really dry, sensitive skin so i have a hard time finding something that works for me!
ReplyDeleteVery curious about the new favourite and also got to check the Armani one - I've been curious since its launch, but never really tried.
ReplyDeleteI've heard really good things about the Giorgio Armani Foudation, and that it's also a dupe for the Loreal Lumi one. I like the matte version of the fit me foundation. Maybe I'll try the dewy one for winter!
ReplyDeleteLove the fit me!
ReplyDeleteI personally love the L'Oreal infallible foundation. Haven't tried any of the ones you've shown here though, I might give them a try!

Even in the winter, I'm still all "Bring on the matte!" My oily skin produces a natural glow haha
ReplyDeleteive been looking for new ones to try so thank you! so glad i came across your blog and cant wait to keep reading! Hope you'll stop by mine too! http://caitscozycorner.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteI have the Laura Mercier primer, and I'm so in love! I want to try a few more of their products, so I'm glad that you liked the foundation!
ReplyDeleteI just got a sample of this Laura Mercier foundation and I cannot wait to give it a try! Looking forward to your review too!

I don't normally switch out foundations by seasons, only because my skin stays the same all year long. OILY! LOL!

I found the Yves Rocher pure light foundation, and really like it. I'd like to try the Maybelline BB cream, and would love to try the Armani, but it's quite out of budget right now...
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any of these foundations. The Armani one sounds amazing although L'Oreal's Dream Match is probably more in my price range ;-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't try any of these out before. I just started using smash box. Thanks for the info about the GFC.

I think I want to try the Loreal or Boots one. I have never really bought a drugstore foundation since high school. I suck at matching on my own and that is why I end up at places like sephora paying three times as much lol!
ReplyDeletei like armani foundation
ReplyDeleteI use Laura Mercier loose powder and love it, will have to look into this foundation! I had no idea Google Friend Connect was doing that... I prefer Bloglovin', so I def. won't be missing any of your posts. :)

Ooh my "mature" self needs to try that Boots one like ASAP!!!!
ReplyDeleteI need to try one of these foundations! My skin gets dry in the winter which doesn't work well with the foundation I use right now.

I totally need this post! I've been using the Bare Minerals liquid foundation and it just isn't working as well with my skin right now. I think I might have to check out the Boots or L'Oreal!
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing so much buzz about that Laura Mercier foundation - looking forward to your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteSuch great recommendations! I really want to try the Gorgio Armani Luminous Silk. Sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm using the Maybelline Fit me now and like it, but I think I'll try something new when it runs out. I'm leaning towards the L'Oreal--thanks for the recommendations!
ReplyDeleteThis is great stuff because my skin is so different in the summer than the winter.

I really like the maybeline BB cream! I find it better for my skin than the garnier one, but as I can't use it while pregnant I've switched to another one, it's an Australian brand I don't think it's international.

I have such sensitive, oily skin that I never stray from Cline Stay Matte. I mix it with some facial lotion and slop it on. Lol
ReplyDeleteGreat suggestions! I would love to try the Georgio Armani one.
ReplyDeleteI love having glowing skin and while the L'Oreal Dream Match just wasn't for me, I did recently get the Maybelline Fit Me and I'm liking it so far.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to hearing more about the Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation!
ReplyDeleteI love Revlon ColorStay but it's not dewy at alllll. For a glow, I like to use Maybelline Dream Lumi over it.
ReplyDelete2 hours late waking up... lolololol
I have always wanted to try the Giorgio Armani foundation, I may just try it this winter.
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer a more matte finish in the Winter but not a flat matte but more of a soft focus finish like Chanel's Velvet - love that one and NARS Luminous :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Laura Mercier products and a friend absolutely loves the Giorgio Armani. I don't tend to wear foundations, I actually just use the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer to even out my skin tone and that's good enough for me! You're probably cringing at this!! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat first sentence totally describes how I feel too. Is it too bad I want my skin to glow and be healthy. I am willing to try the BB Cream by Maybelline and that Laura Mercier one. I just bought a new foundation though so I will see how that works out.
ReplyDeleteI like the FIT Me collection from Maybelline. Couldn't you also mix in a highlighter? I know many people use that to make their skin "glow"
