I don't talk about my freelance work or professional beauty products on here since this isn't the audience for it. But thanks to blogs/youtube, I've noticed the lines of professional and consumer are definitely blurring. Viseart (pronounced Viz-E-Art) is professional brand that I've been using for over a year now.
Example: when the last Sephora VIB sale happened, I was inundated with emails/tweets/texts/snaps asking me if the the Viseart palettes were worth it. I had no idea they were selling them at Sephora, as they are considered part of "the industry." I couldn't be more excited!
Let's talk about the Viseart palettes: the Parisian brand carries products and palettes for eyes, lips, face, and brows, and we'll focus on the eyes. This was one of the first brands to eradicate parabens from their products. They are imported from France and contain organic ingredients. Not tested on animals. No parabens, gluten, petrochemicals, silicone or mineral oils, so they're made of good stuff.
Viseart has matte palettes, like this Dark Matte palette pictured above. They have satin and they have shimmer finishes, pictured below.
The pigmentation is incredible and they don't have fall out.
Viseart has warm and cool tones, as well as a bright editorial palette--look at the end of this post for all 7 palettes.
And while $80 seems like a lot, think of it this way: they are $6.6 per shadow.
You get 12 shadows per palette. A single MAC shadow is $16 and it's the same size!
Pictured is the Paris Nudes, a shimmer palette.
Since this is considered a professional brand, the packaging is nothing fancy at all. This is typical of pro makeup brands. But despite the appearance, the palette is durable. I have dropped the Neutral Matte palette pictured above (as of this moment on it's sale for $61), and you can see it was fine. Don't recommend dropping it though. ;)
I've also heard the argument (and been asked about) it's a dupe for a $20 Sonia Kashuk palette. It is NOT. While I love the SK brand (I got to interview her once right here!) this doesn't compare at all. The colors look similar in the pan, but are not the same swatched and are not the same quality. Look at the example above that I swatched of the bottom right (V) and the the bottom left (SK) brown.
The shadows are very dry, meaning no fall out, but aren't chalky. I've never had to use a primer and they haven't creased. They last all day. Above is an example of me using the dark and neutral matte palettes. Sorry for all of the closed eye pics this week, but I have hooded lids, so this is the best way to show the shadows before I applied liner.

- Absolutely. Again, these are $6.6 per shadow.
- If you want to do makeup professionally, you need these.
- If you want to stop wasting money on products you aren't satisfied with and get something that works, then you need this. These are colors you will actually use.
- If you want to invest in just 1 good palette, get one of these.
- I recommend going for the dark or cool mattes, since a lot of us have neutral and shimmer palettes already. If you're doing film/print work, you need the editorial. If you do makeup on a lot of brides, the Bridal Satin is a great one.

I've often wondered if these were worth the hype/price but now you've convinced me to buy one next time I'm feeling spendy! xx

I really love the Paris Nudes colors! All gorgeous and perfect for every day! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteI see these listed on Sephora all the time, but always shy away from the hefty pricetag. The quality makes it clear now though. Really loving the range of matte shades - they're different from what you see in standard palettes!

Love the new series concept. These seem like great quality shadows and would definitely be worth the investment if you are a professional makeup artist. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOooohhhhhh. I've always been willing to invest in something if it cuts down on buying more cheap stuff that actually ends up wasting my time!

Thanks for this review, Elle! When I go to the pro makeup store here in TO, I always see these palettes but have never picked up one coz it's pretty pricey, but I heard a lot of film makeup artists use them so I was curious. Good to know they're worth the hype!
ReplyDeleteAwesome review! Sometimes I get sticker shock with palettes and then I realize just how much you are getting when you break down the price.
ReplyDeleteLove this new series idea. Glad to hear it a good palette. Have a great weekend.

Love palettes!! I always love the neutral colored ones but don't always love the price, so these sound perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a detailed review on Viseart, Elle! I have been seeing this brand popping up all over Youtube and had wondered about it. While the quality is amazing, I won't be investing in one because my makeup is for everyday personal use, I just can't justify $80 for a palette.

Those look like such amazing palettes, and they're really only a little bit more than the Naked palettes. Plus, like you said, you get a lot for your money. I'll have to check them out next time I'm looking for a new palette!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous palettes, amazing review and series idea! Happy Friday <3

I have heard of this brand but I have to admit the price of their products have put me off. Looking at it as $6.6 per shadow definitely makes it seem less costly.
ReplyDeleteI think this one would be perfect for me. I love the colours, I love the fact that it's matte and very pigmented and yes, absolutely love the no-rubbish ingredients list. by the way, I don't think the price is too high for what they are - it's not cheap, but it's not making me reach for blood pressure meds either. Thank you for introducing me to this brand, Elle! I'll definitely add it to my wish list. x
ReplyDeleteGlad to know its worth it. I love a good palette.
ReplyDeleteI dont get the colors though that are like primary basic crayola colors - what? Who wears those
This is a great series to start on your blog Elle! The palettes are so pretty! Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI want to pick these up so badly, but I haven't allowed myself to splurge yet, ha! They do look incredible and I am for sure going to treat myself to at least one this year! Great review!!!
ReplyDeleteI've actually never heard of the brand - so thank you for the introduction and I love the color variety! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteThese palettes look amazing. If I hadn't bought smaller ones that I love I would totally get one of these right now. I'll keep this post saved for that reason. What fabulous colors.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post. Maybe one day I will splurge and get one of these.
ReplyDeletebeautiful make up dear..it seems so chic and elegant
ReplyDeletekisses
I've never heard of this palette before which is why I absolutely love coming here. I love eyeshadows but I've never been to into them. But I will definitely check this out. Thanks for this review Elle.

I'm glad those are worth the hype and the price. I totally understand the need for investment pieces, but to me that's definitely shoes and not makeup. I think we all have our "things" that we find that it's totally worth it to spend money on. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for this new series! I look forward to many more posts on the "worth the hype" topic! As for these palettes... they sound wonderful. I don't wear a lot of eye shadow, though, and if I do, I've never had a problem with it getting chalky or coming off. So I don't know that it's worth the investment for me, but I do love the way you price it out for people who might be interested!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you reviewed these, Elle! I've been curious because everyone's talking about them now. It can be hard to determinee what's hype and what's actually good.
ReplyDeleteNever hear of this brand, thanks for sharing! I am almost through my Naked pallette and will keep this on the radar for when I replace.
ReplyDeleteAmazing post! I personally do not "need" one of these but I am glad to know this so that I can refer friends who do makeup professionally. I love that this brand is cruelty free and made of all the good stuff! XO
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of these (where have I been), but for $6.60 a shadow when a MAC shadow is almost double the price, it doesn't sound all too bad. Although, I am a Urban Decay Naked fan, I am not sure I can part this those shadows!!

hmmm when you put it like that vs MAC, it definitely seems worth it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of these before! They seem nice and I love how they are organic and made of good stuff like you said! When you break it down to $6-7 a shadow, that doesn't seem bad at all!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with the pigmentation of these! Gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeleteI think you sold me on these palettes. They sound fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI recently saw these on the Sephora website. Very tempting!
ReplyDeleteWow. So so pretty.Missy Dress
ReplyDeleteooh interesting! I didn't know sephora had these either! http://maybemayhemmakeup.blogspot.com.au/
ReplyDeleteGood advice from someone who knows and we trust. You're a great resource, buddy.
ReplyDeleteI love that you think of them as a 6.6 dls shadow, that is a great way of seeing palettes! I have purchased some shades from dior and even though they were tiny and only had one shade on them they were 20dls... so it is definitely worth it! I do feel that the fact that they are professional (and Im not that good applying make up) make them feel a little bit out of my reach... :S

Wow you've sold me! Hehehe. Thankfully they're stocked at Sephora. They sound like a really solid investment especially for the amount of colours you're presented with. Compared to other $$$ brands.

I've wondered about these too. Have you tried any Natasha Denona products? I've seen several YouTubers talk about her and her stuff is super expensive, like $300 for a palette which is crazy!! Great review and these definitely do seem to be worth the money.
ReplyDeleteWow those look great! I'd love to try those :)
ReplyDeleteWow they are expensive. Look at all those gorgeous colors though. I love your beautiful smokey eye.
ReplyDeleteYikes, $80 is steep for shadows. But I can see why a pro makeup artist would want these in their stash. Very beautiful color range! I've never heard of them before. In fact, I know nothing about "pro-brands." haha. It was an interesting read.

ReplyDeleteI love this new series of yours!!! I had never heard of this brand, but I guess since it is a pro brand...why would I? The colors are gorgeous on your swatches! I can see why you said you would actually use these colors. I will certainly keep this in mind next time I have to itch for a new palette!
