4 New Beauty Products You Need to Try Now

Okay y'all, I'm doing something different--I'm including some personal stuff at the top and then the beauty post at the bottom, and hopefully one will segue into the other. Today, I'm talking about The Old and The New:

The Old: So over Thanksgiving my Grandmother gave me a bunch of slides (I know, what? I've never seen a projector, nor remember them) featuring my first day of school and my first beauty pageant. It was bittersweet because my late great-granny, late grandfather, and late father are in there.

I sent them off to be turned into pictures, and paid for them, but was told it would be a DVD. It would take a month. Christmas I went to see if they were ready. They weren't. I called January. And February. I called Headquarters and they assured me all would be well. It wasn't. Long story short, I finally got them this past weekend. And I had to pay again for them since they had no record of my receipt. It was frustrating, but I love seeing those memories. They make me happy.

The New: Something else that makes me happy? NEW BEAUTY STUFF! Yes, I stalk Sephora's Just Arrived section for the latest beauty goodies pretty much on the regular. Take that bit of info coupled with the new release emails I get, and you have one excited beauty girl. Here are 4 new releases you have GOT to try. These are SO good, y'all.

I purchased these from Sephora. Links are below. All are paraben-free.

Bumble And Bumble Surf Foam Spray
  • A lightweight, part mousse-part salt spray formula for big, beachy texture with heat-styled polish.
  • Infused with the signature salt mineral complex, this frothy foam-mousse hybrid provides an elevated, polished blow dry with Surf’s trademark texture.
  • It provides the most volume and lift in the Surf family while delivering a beach protective blend that’s infused with coconut water and UVA/UVB filters to help protect against the drying effects of the sun. I got mine at Sephora.
    • My take: gives texture and volume to hair without weighing it down or feeling crunchy
Milk Magic Marker
  • A no-blot lip stain with a felt tip that provides opaque lip color with a matte finish.
  • Its long-lasting formula moisturizes and provides a full-coverage lip stain that stays put all day.
    • My take: The easiest way to apply color to lips. It's like a magic marker! Fun.
  • Milk Makeup is a high art but low maintenance line. Think a makeup line designed by art students but not complicated products. I also love the roll on bronzer and cooling stick, which are pictured. Get this at Sephora or Urban Outfitters.
BeautyBlender Liner Designer
  • A triple-edged eyeliner guide that’s perfect for using with pencils, gels, and liquid eyeliners.
  • Three distinct sides, each designed for a different look, will help provide a steady hand and make it easy to create liner symmetry.
  • This product includes a five times magnifying mirror and suction cup that allows the compact to placed on any hard surface. Place the flexible, silicone guide above or below the eye as you apply mascara to keep makeup intact and mascara only on your lashes.
    • My take: The easiest cat eye ever.
      • Currently sold out, but I would suggest hitting up the Sephora at JcPenney's. I was able to find them in 2 stores, and before they were released online!
  • An ultra lightweight hairspray that builds incredible volume and texture.
  • Part hairspray, part dry shampoo, this talc-free multitasker is the ultimate go-to product to achieve innately cool model-off-duty hair.
  • This product is Scented with Ouai No. 3 fragrance, containing notes of Italian bergamot, water lily, and white musk.
    • My take: I've really been impressed with this line, started by hairstylist Jen Atkins. I would suggest the mousse, dry shampoo, and the treatment masque. I love the scent, but be sure to sniff before purchasing.
Which of these would you like to try?

  4. Stalking the New In section is one of my more time consuming hobbies as well. And the story is annoying, but the memories are sure worth it. I would have done the same (with gritted teeth).

  16. I would be super frustrated about the picture and dvd situation too!! I'm glad you finally got them though!
I would love to try that surf foam spray! Normal sea salt sprays don't work well in my hair, but I've always have to best luck with mousse products for scrunching and what not! I also haven't forgotten about your last two YouTube videos you posted- I'm super behind on catching up on YouTube these past few days!!

  17. Gah! I would have been so annoyed about what happened and having to pay again?! I would have been calling them all sorts of nasty names. LOL!

I try not to stalk the 'new in' Sephora section because I usually want everything and it's dangerous for my bank account. This is the second time I'm reading about Milk makeup brand, it seems to garner pretty good review but it somehow come across as 'youngish' for me.

  22. The seafoam spray sounds fun! That is so frustrating about converting the slides to pictures...I can't believe that they didn't have better customer service. At least you have them now, and I'm sure you will always treasure them.

  23. I hate you had to pay twice, but at least they're in your possession now! I've been dying to hear someone talk about the Beauty Blender product because I'm super interested in it. I need all the help I can get with winged liner and cat eyes.

  24. I'm super interested in the BB Liner Designer and the Ouai haircare line!
I'm sorry you had to pay twice, that really stinks! Glad you were able to enjoy some memories though.

  25. The Milk products sound so interesting. I really like the concept of that brand. I've been wondering if the Liner Designer would work out. I guess I need to try it out!

  26. Elle, would you be sharing those pics with us? :D And I'd like to try that MILK one out of all these...I've only heard good things about the line!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Girrrrl I would be so mad about the pictures!!! Couldn't you pull up your bank records or credit card statement from the month you paid for them? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard on their part. Especially for the waiting game you had to play!!!

I am obsessed with Bumble and Bumble and have got to find that spray for my super fine hair!!! The Milk lip thing intrigues me. I don't think I have seen anything of theirs in stores but maybe because I haven't really looked. The JCPenney Sephora is sadly the one I shop at most because it is the closest to me!

  28. oh my gosh how infuriating! but on the other hand i had no idea you could turn slides into pictures. my family has a lot of slides that i'd love to have as pictures, so i might email my mum and let her know.
i have been looking for a surf spray or mousse so i can rock the more natural look on our cruise, but there are so many out there that it's overwhelming, so i will try the bumble and bumble one!

  33. Yikes, that sucks it took months and then you had to pay again :( I'm glad you were able to get a finished copy full of happy memories though! I once had a picture place tell me they had basically ruined all the originals before they could get them digitized.

  34. My aunt used to have us over and have a little "girls day" all sitting around snacking and looking at old projector photos. She still had one. When she passed, she gave them to my other aunt who got all of them printed and turned into disks. I'm so sorry your's took forever! But at least you have them now!

Ah I love new products! I've never heard of the Milk brand until two days ago when Kathleen Lights was talking about it on her Snapchat. I'm super curious about these products! Roll ons take me back to my Bonne Bell days! haha

  37. Would you consider doing a video to show how the Beauty Blender Liner is best used? I love the BB for make up so I'm super curious about this new one, but I have no idea how to use it, haha!

Also, what a mess trying to get those photos! But I'm so glad you have them now! :)
