If you have been into makeup long enough, you'll realize that nothing is really new. Old techniques are refreshed, stand by looks are given new names, and I think that's the case with today's trend. By the way, not into trends? Remember this is all in good fun. Don't knock it 'til ya try it, right?
Up first is a new trend I read about on Marie Claire.com called Non-touring. And it's supposed to be the hottest trend this summer.
What is "Non-Touring?"
- Think light coverage and glowy skin
- No contour, no heavy full-coverage foundation
- Perfectly illuminated skin that shows off your features
- Not strobing, as strobing involves a heavier highlight and more full-coverage makeup. Make strobing lite is a better way to think of it?
- 3 steps
Glowing skin that doesn't look overdone, just natural |
Non-Touring Tutorial:
- Use a primer that's hydrating, not mattiyfing. I personally say skip this step.
- Apply a tinted moisturizer or BB cream or CC cream. You don't want full coverage. Keep it light. Apply concealer to spots if needed.
- Apply highlight to the high points of the face, like above the apples of cheeks, chin, forehead, cupid's bow, the bridge of the nose, etc. There is no contour. Choose a highlighter that works for your skin tone. I used champagne.
Below are high end and drugstore alternatives to try this trend:
High end products to try: Too Faced Rx primer, IT Cosmetics CC Cream, The Balm Mary Lou Manizer |
Drugstore options: Milani Prime Perfection, Garnier BB Cream--I use the original for my dry skin, Maybelline Highlight/Contour kit |

Extra Elle:
- Speaking of higlighting products (my fave) last week I got the Pat McGrath highlighting kit. I'm not doing a review on it since it's so pricey, but it is SO good. I shared a preview on Snapchat.
- Finally went to the Dr. so I am slowly feeling better. I apologize for my pics today--I look awful, so please excuse my swollen sinus infection face.
i love this glowy and fresh look. I say yes to the trend!

This is a great tutorial, Elle! I'm all about this non-touring trend, I still can't figure out the contouring haha! I feel like I do this a lot already and it's so fresh and light for the warmer months!

I still usually contour the normal way but I would love to try this if I can find the right highlighter!
ReplyDeletePs- I love your accent!

I'm a big fan of this look, and you look amazeballz:) I didn't know it's called non-touring...hehe...it's been a big thing in Asia for awhile now, eh?
ReplyDeleteI love how fresh and glowy this look is! Definitely going to have to try! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteI had no idea this was a trend because this is what I've been doing for the past year or so! I never got into contouring (I have a really thin oval face so it made me look crazy) so I just use lots of highlight. Love this look!
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I am so used to contouring now, and have a full looking face, so I will probably stick to that, but I would definitely do something more laid back on a hot summer day.

I had noticed that look but didnt know it had a name... good to know.
ReplyDeleteI personally LOVE Non-Touring as I'm a huge fan of glowy, luminous skin! Digging this tutorial lady!
ReplyDeletexx
So non-touring is strobing which is basically highlighting?

This is such a beautiful and natural look! Thanks for trying this out and sharing. :)

I didn't even know this was a trend! It's beautiful on you and I love it for summer though!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you said that about the primer because I had some in my hand the other day and put it back. I don't know what BB or CC cream are but they seem important so maybe I'll buy one of those instead. Once I figure out what they are...
ReplyDeleteOooo, I am loving this trend and I'll tag you on IG if I managed to create a look and capture it on camera. Thanks, Elle!

Your photos look beautiful Elle, you never look awful!! I hope you feel better soon!! I love the idea of this trend, but I like my full coverage foundation too much lol!! But I can see how this would be nice for summer time!
ReplyDeleteI love how light + quick this makeup trend is; great for hot summer days when you're on-the-go!

This sounds like a great trend that I could get behind! I personally love the light makeup look, and I've been obsessed with higlighting lately! I definitely need to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteYou always look so fresh and glowy in your pics. This one looks natural yet still gives you the nice glow. I would prob do this on a Sunday when I didn't want to do a whole face. I like CC creams but my face needs to be pimple and blemish free for me to use them. THanks for sharing this trend and look with us!
ReplyDeleteWow. Looking gorgeous dear. It seems to be a very nice trend. I must try it too. Quick and easy :-)

This look is so natural and gorgeous!!! My face needs some fuller coverage right now though until it chills out so I will probably wait to try it til then!
ReplyDeleteI like this trend! While I love using a million products, it's not practical all the time. Something like this is easy to do on your own. Hope you feel better, Elle!
ReplyDeleteI'm useless at contouring but I'm all about nontouring. Pretty sure this look started over in South Korea because I've seen in their dramas for years. Great job! You totally look lit from within!
ReplyDeleteI've honestly never even tried contouring so I'm all about this. ;)
ReplyDeleteA lighter coverage for the summer sounds great to me! I have just gotten into contouring, but love this nontouring (quick!!) look!

I already kind of do this. I never contour I have a long angular face--think SJP so non of that needed, but highlighting or light strobing yep! And some these high lighters look great.

I love this the glowy look! You look so pretty!

That's pretty much my everyday makeup look without the primer. Your skin is so nice.

I'm so behind on the trends. haha I will say I am super happy that it seems like full caked on "Instagram face" seems to be out and the fresh, glowy skin is in. To a non beauty expert this looks like strobing? haha But like I said, I have no expertise in the world of trends at all. Loving the look though!
ReplyDeleteI much prefer makeup that way - so I am "using" non-touring and didn't know :) Cause I really prefer what you said, BB or CC cream, a highlighter but not heavy and so on. I loved your makeup, your skin is always fantastic and you are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDenisesPlanet.com
I think you look gorgeous, but I hope you get to feeling better! This technique is right up my alley, since I don't ever take the time to do "real" contouring or strobing. I like a fresher, more natural looking face anyway.
ReplyDeleteLove this!! This is basically what I do on a day-to-day basis anyway, but didn't know there was a name for it!! haha :)
ReplyDeletewww.maggiealamode.com
My favourite thing of all times (though I don't use a primer), but now with a name. :) This is something I've been doing for years on days when I don't want or need to wear makeup, but need a touch of polish and glow. Love the look you've created! Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI watched your video and immediately went and ordered Mary Lou-Manizer. I've been wanting it for a while and beauty.com is having 20% off so I went for it. I hadn't heard of this trend, but it's perfect for the warmer months.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely great for summer. I'm glad the anti-contouring trends are starting to roll in because I don't have time for all that lol 3 steps works for me :) You look great!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you have been sick but are now feeling better I hope. You look great in these photos with the non-touring and your flowy long waves. I need to try the drugstore version of those products. One of these days I will try a BB or a CC cream.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better sweetie! I think this is a great series - we all know that none of this stuff is really new and mostly reinvented what's always been around but it's fun to test drive some of these "new trends".
ReplyDeleteA trend I could actually do...! Omg, can you come over and teach me how to put make up on? HAHA
ReplyDeletehope you are feeling better Elle. you look gorgeous, not awful at all. don't be so mean to yourself! your hair looks fabulous as well. so i am not very makeup smart, so in layman's terms, is this just like cc/bb cream and then highlighting? i watched the video but i can't watch with sound at work so just wanted to be sure :) i haven't tried highlighting yet so i am curious!
ReplyDeleteI love this look! And I feel like it's one I could actually do! HA!
