Love gloss but don't like the stickiness? Want some color but don't like lipstick? Then you'll love this summer beauty trend: LIP OILS!
Lip oils aren't anything new (remember the roller ball version back in the day?) but these versions are. They pack a punch with moisturizing oil combinations, cute packaging, and some have tints to them. Here are 9 lip oils I've been loving--there's one for every price point too!
- Sephora, ULTA, and dept stores
- 3 shades
- Scented
- Oils: soothing hazelnut and organic jojoba oils
- $25
- Shiniest of them all
- Sephora, ULTA
- 19 shades
- Scented
- Oils: Peach kernel oil, sweet almond oil, apricot oil, cranberry oil, Muscat rose oil
- $21
- Cutest packaging
- See my original review HERE for more details
- Drugstores, online
- 8 shades
- Scented
- Oils: Jojoba, Avocado and Tsubaki

- I tried the raspberry one and didn't like the scent at all, but would be open to trying others. Not pigmented.
- Sephora and dept stores
- 9 shades
- Scented
- Oils: apricot kernel oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil, and possiflora edulis seed oil
- $32
- Allure Magazine winner for a reason, can build up color
- Sephora
- 9 shades
- oil: kendi
- $14
- If you're looking for some natural color without stickiness, try these
- Sephora, Urban Outfitters
- 2 shades
- Oils: vitamin e, black currant, olive
- $18
- If you're looking for a traditional roller ball, try this lip oil stain
- ULTA, drugstores
- 2 shades
- Scented
- Oils: argan, sunflower, castor
- $12.99
- For those who like a tube lip oil, and you get 2 for the price of 1!
- Sephora, ULTA
- 2 shades
- Scented
- Oils: argan, sunflower, citrus
- $16
- Another duo but I like this version better, plus it can be used on the cheeks as well
- Sephora
- 1 shade
- Oils: Bois De Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Petitgrain, Lemon, Rosemary, Vanilla, Clove, Amyris, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Cedar, and Rose Geranium, as well as lipid-rich plant oils that include Hazelnut, Kukui Nut, Rose Hip, Borage, Olive, Green Tea, Cherry Pit, Sweet Almond, Jojoba, and Evening Primrose, and is fortified with vitamins A, B5, C, and E
- $42
- The price tag is ridiculous, but it's a fabulous lip oil treatment. Get a sample before buying!

Extra Elle:
- Very long hours at work this week--looking forward to doing nothing this weekend. I'm behind on everything blog-wise, so I'll be stopping by this weekend to visit!
- Speaking of lip products, I'm testing out the new Vice ones from Urban Decay.
The texture of the oil would definitely be something for me to look into before committing to these - but they sound fun! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a lip oil yet but like the idea much better than a sticky gloss. I'm interested in trying the Sephora ones! Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteIt's goo dot see that you like the Josie Maran Cheek and Lips duo, I had the opportunity to trade for it but wasn't sure if it's any good.

ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any, but I don't like lipstick for summer so I think I need to make a purchase! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I love the packaging for the Lancome Shakers. SO cute! I've heard awesome things about the Milk one too! Happy Friday! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteThank for for putting this roundup together Elle! Lip oils seem to be one of the hottest makeup trends right now and one that I've been quite curious to try!
ReplyDeleteI have a Milani one. I wish they had color/pigment. I really want to try the Lancome Juicy Shaker. I read your review and saw one on Youtube and I just really love Lancome lip stuff in general. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI always find that my lips get really dry which is why I tend to like glass more, but it sounds like I might need to try out lip oils! I think that I'd probably get the best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteI always learn something new from you, never heard of a lip oil, I'll have to try one of the drugstore ones. have a great relaxing and productive weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love the Milani coconut one! Try that out if the other scent turned you off. I dont wear these during the day, but I love wearing one at night and waking up with super soft lips!
ReplyDeleteThese sound like fun to try! I may have to pick up the Physician's Formula version, I like the look of those colors!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of lip oils! They all look like beautiful colors, though.

I might have to finally cave and try one of the Lancome Juicy Shakers. I keep seeing them everywhere! That is clearly a sign!
ReplyDeleteI have the Clarins and the Juicy shaker by Lancome, and while I love the Clarins one, the Lancome oil is good as an oil, but could have been more pigmented. But it is good as a "balm"-oil!

Great post! I've been into lip oils lately, and I have 3 that you describe here: the Clarins in Red Berry (love how shiny it is!), the Lancome Juicy Shaker (so cute and the shade I have is quite pigmented, even leaves a stain), and one Josie Maran Argan Infinity (I actually prefer that one on the cheeks).
ReplyDeleteBeaumiroir
These look so fun, I just love the applicators and tubes. I haven't tried a lip oil, but I am sure I'd love them. I need to look for some of these when I'm at Sephora/ULTRA next!

Been seeing a lot of people talk about these. I'm still trying to figure out which one I want the most.

I was never much of a fan of these but I think it all depended on the brand I was using.
ReplyDeleteI love the YSL you shown. Perhaps an impulse buy in is order. hehe
It's been ages since I've used a lip oil, but these are so tempting! I really like the sound of the one from Clarins :)
ReplyDeleteI def remember roller balls back in the day! I love those pink shades for summer!

I love the Sephora ones and I want to try the Milani one so bad. I've had some long hours this week too and I'm so behind on comments. Crazy busy summer!
ReplyDeleteI have a Milani one that is clear (coconut one) and i like it okay. But then I have a VS roller ball one i bought last year that I am obsessed with. Really want to try the PF duo set and maybe splurge on a YSL or Juicy shaker!
ReplyDeleteNever tried Lip oils. But after reading this I am definitely going to try one :)

I obviously live under a rock because I've never even heard of lip oils! But yeah, am defo up to giving them a try!!
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan of sheer lip products with a hefty price tag, but I will get a Lancome Juicy Shaker, just for the sake of the packaging.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
I tend to like lip products but more color but I never knew how many different brands of lip oils were out there! The Lancome Juicy Shakers are definitely cute! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the new UD Vice lipsticks!
ReplyDeleteI love lip oils in winters. I like matte and budge proof lipsticks for hot summer.

I have one of the YSL lip oils, and I really like it. I'll have to try some of the other ones!
ReplyDeleteI've tried the YSL and Sephora versions. Really enjoy the YSL formula. Have been curious about the Clarins and Hourglass (though it's so expensive!) Your roundup was really helpful. 😊
ReplyDeleteI am such a huge fan of Sephora lipstick / gloss / stain!

I ADORE the YSL lip oils. I have shade No.5, possibly the cherry one? I forget the name. Anyway, I don't think the shades are hugely distinguishable from each other but the formula and the fact that it dries down to a beautiful stain has me hooked. x
