Pardon the interruption! I'm not sure the last time I've gone this long without blogging, but now that I'm back at home, I thought it was time to catch you up on life....lately!
Watched:
La La Land--I saw this a couple of weekends ago and LOVED it. I'm a huge musicals, and love the sweeping music numbers in classic films/Fred and Ginger. I didn't like the ending, but understood why it ended as it did. I've been playing the soundtrack constantly when not listening to Christmas music.
Moana--It has been a tradition for the past 16 years, that my youngest sis and I have watched a movie around Thanksgiving or Christmas at the theatre. This started when she was 5. She brought her hub and his younger bro and I think they enjoyed it. I liked it.
Did:
Finally mailed out Christmas cards...on the 22nd...which most people didn't get until yesterday.
Unwrapped presents and spent time with family--while I loved everything, my youngest sis got necklaces for me, her, and our sis Jess. Mine has Big Sis, Jess has Middle Sis, and Holly has Lil Sis. It's so sweet. I think my family liked their presents?
Had fun playing with nieces and nephews
Hit up some after Christmas sales--did you see my haul on my blog's Facebook page?
Cleaned away all the Christmas--the earliest I have ever done so!
Listened:
Now that Christmas music is over for me, it's been a lot of George Michael (rip), La La Land, and pretty much anything on the radio.
A Life in Parts, an audiobook by Bryan Cranston--I really enjoyed this. I knew nothing of the man, never having seen much of his shows, but found his life and career interesting. It's also a bit of a master class in acting. It made the trip back home and back to Atlanta fly by in the foggy weather.
Felt:
I felt so awful during the holidays but am finally getting better. I just wanted to sleep, which is very unusual for me. Ugh.
The crazy temps! It was in the 80s back in my hometown for Christmas. We were joking that we were dashing through the leaves instead of snow and blasting the air conditioner.
So excited to see that Maybelline shared my pic on Insta! Usually you get asked by a brand and you suspect they might share your pic, but this was a nice surprise.
I'll be back tomorrow with makeup and more!
I am going to check out that book by Brian! I am super into audiobooks right now so this looks perfect!

I'm sorry to hear you weren't feeling great over Christmas but glad you are getting better now :) I really want to see Moana at the cinema as I have heard nothing but good things about it! The necklaces that you and your sister received sound so lovely and such a thought out gift. I hope you have a fab New Year! x

ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to get my Broadway loving musical friend to go see La La Land with me :) I'm ALWAYS about anything musical!!
Glad you're feeling better Elle! I still need to take down all the Christmas decorations. Hopefully I'll have that done by Friday!

Congrats on the picture share! I am glad to hear that La La Land was good - I definitely want to see that!
ReplyDeleteThis weather is crazy! I am dying to have a fire in my fireplace! Just started watching Breaking Bad and am now an instant fan of Bryan Cranston. May have to check that out.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to get the necklaces, that is such a nice idea! Also excellent to be with your family and playing with the kids! I am dying to watch La La Land and about sleeping, well... as I lack proteins and vitamins (my fault, a bad nourishing way), I will go to the doctor to see what I have to do now... so sleeping is a constant for me :) I guess you were tired because of Christmas, driving, job and blogging. Hope you feel less sleepy soon! Wow... I would also expect Maybelline to ask for your permission... but it was a nice surprise, indeed!

ReplyDeleteThose necklaces sound so cute and like a great gift! I'm glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering about La La Land but it does look really cute and I'm glad you liked it! We put away all our x-mas decor yesterday and I like how clean it feels now LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love musicals, so I am def. going to have to check out La La Land now! I wish my Christmas was all put away, guess I'll be working on that next week. Congrats on Maybelline sharing your pic!

That's so exciting that Maybelline shared your picture on Instagram! And we're seriously loathing this heat wave that's happening right now! It just didn't feel Christmasy when it was 80 outside!
ReplyDeleteI actually heard Cranston talk about his book in an interview and it sounded quite interesting. I also saw La La Land and I loved it. But I totally get you about the ending. It would have been nice if it ended in that imaginary way that they showcase in the movie. Gotta check out the soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! And I just saw today to exact a commercial for La La Land it does look really good. And so sad about George Michael...I feel old :(

Oh man, I hate that you haven't been feeling well! But am glad you are on the mend! Sounds like an awesome weekend aside from feeling cruddy. And I couldn't believe it was 74 on the day after Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteElle, I am sorry you didn't feel well for the holidays, I hope you are back to yourself... I am happy to hear you were able to get some family time... wow to the temperatures there, I would rather dash through leaves over snow ... lol
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better now! So glad you got some good time with family this Christmas! And hooray for being regrammed on Insta! So cool! :)
ReplyDeleteAw so glad to hear you had an amazing Christmas! Congrats on the Maybelline feature!

congrats on maybelline sharing your picture, that's awesome! sorry you were feeling awful over the holidays :( i just wanted to sleep as well, but i wasn't sick or anything, just got a bad case of the winter blahs :( i don't know anything about brian cranston but i love a good audiobook so i'll have to check that one out. i really want to see La La Land! good to hear you liked it, besides the ending.
ReplyDeleteThat audiobook sounds interesting...I've never heard of it but I'm big into audiobooks lately. Too funny about "dashing through the leaves" It was about 90 in FL on Christmas day so I totally feel ya with the weather being not very Christmasy!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy but fun festive period! How cool that Maybelline regrammed your pic! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautylymin| LuxuryFragranceBundleGiveaway
I might have to check out that book! It sounds really interesting. Not the type I typically read, but it's good to venture out of my book comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteThe necklaces sound like such a sweet present! The weather made me sad on Christmas! It was so warm. Sorry you weren't feeling well. That always stinks around the holiday.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a bummer to be sick for the holidays, so I'm sorry about that! <3 I LOVED Moana! We have been crazy obsessed with the soundtrack and the Rock's character, Maui was one of my favorites. I think it's better than Frozen, but also so different it's not right to compare them. I mean, I still rock out to Let it go. (; Life with a toddler. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to see La La Land! I'm taking down my Christmas as we speak and I'm kinda sad to pack it all up. I'm glad you're feeling better and it's so awesome that Maybelline featured your photo. Your photos are always so good and you can tell you put time and effort into your shots.
