I rarely talk on here about my day job as a nanny, but I found out that, come August, I will no longer be working for the family. The youngest will be in preschool then. This was a surprise to me, and it was devastating. I have loved working for them. Most people (I'm guessing) don't get excited about their job every single day. I always had fun there. I loved making the kids laugh and sneakily getting them to learn. It makes me tear up thinking about not being apart of those two special little girls' lives. But after 7 years there, I know how lucky I've been and how not all nanny positions last that long. I've only taken sick days three times in those seven years, as I loved it that much. I'm hoping time will go by slowly. ;)
So now that gives me a lot to think about. Do I want to get another nanny position? Maybe I should do part time so I can work more on my blog? Should I switch to my blog full-time? Do I do something else? I feel a little overwhelmed with possibilities, but it will all work out. In the meantime, if you hear of someone in Atlanta needing a nanny in the fall, please let me know.
---------------
Some good news: Maybelline reposted me again! The second time in a month! This made me happy since the original pic didn't get many likes on my Instagram. What the heck is going on with Instagram, anyway? My likes have dropped like crazy. Super frustrating, but this was nice to see! You can see my haul from them here.
---------------
I thought this was random: most people didn't get my Christmas cards that I mailed out before Christmas until last week. I was wondering why I never heard from anyone! It all started because I got one from Bare Minerals' PR that was sent before Christmas last week. Did that happen to anyone else?

Thank for your support on this post. I was SO worried I was going to get negative feedback. There's always that one person that finds fault in everything you do, right? But I am so blessed to have such a supportive community. There's so much more I wanted to share about it, so I can't wait to get another post on it up. Thank you again, as it truly means a lot.
In this post, you might remember I was on the hunt for these Wet N Wild cushion compacts. I told y'all drugstores were getting into the cushion game. Well, the wonderful Hannah of LoubsandLips saw that and sent these to me! I've had fun testing them out. More soon on these. Thank you again, Hannah! It cheered me up.
And that's my Life Lately!
Have a great weekend!
So sorry about the ending of your nanny job but I'm sure this is just the beginning of an exciting path for you. Congrats on your Insta repost with Maybelleine! Have a terrific weekend Elle and I would love for you to stop by my blog and enter a giveaway that I'm having. Quick and easy I promise!

I'm so sorry about the nanny position ending, but I have no doubt that you will find something / another family that you can grow with!! Love that they regrammed your photo - so cool! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteA lot of big decisions to be made in the near term but I'm certain you'll find something great that you'll love doing
ReplyDeleteI too am sorry to hear about your nanny position, Elle:( I can only imagine how hard it is, as I know you are really quite fond of this family. I'm sure, however, that something better will come soon. You know the saying," When one door closes...." :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for the re-post! I actually do go to IG anymore so I don't know what's going on there.
Holy frack! Thank you sooooo much for that link, Elle. I'm gonna share it in the knitting forum I go to!
DeleteMwah!
That has to be the hardest thing about being a Nanny - them growing up & the knowing that eventually, your time with the little one will be over. But what an exciting time for you - new beginnings & ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have issues with our mail ALL THE TIME ... like at work, we expect checks - like BIG AMOUNT checks & vendors tell us they sent them & sometimes it takes like 2 -3 weeks before we get it. Its like the Pony Express could get things there quicker.
I'm sorry to hear about your nanny position ending Elle! I was a nanny too, so I can imagine some of what your feeling. I'm sure you'll work with another great family if you choose to continue being a nanny. Being a nanny can be such a great experience as you care for children and watch them grow! Congrats on the repost! I love using those Maybelline single Eyeshadows! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh Elle, I know this must be so hard for you. I know something will open up for you, and that you will be happy. I will be thinking of you and I will keep my eyes and ears open for you. I don't know what is going on with Instagram, but I never know what is going on there. Big shock I know! I hope you can have a good weekend even with all of the distractions. Take care!

I'm so sorry your nanny position is ending. I can't even imagine having to say goodbye. I totally wish you were in the Bluegrass State!! Prayers for you while you figure out your next steps! It'll be perfect whatever you decide. :) Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteAwe Elle, I'm glad that your family has given you so much time to prepare for August. It'll give you time to think and plan for your next step. I'm sure you won't have trouble getting another nanny position as it sounds like you'll get a good recommendation... I'm sure they'll miss you as much as you miss them xox ♡♡♡
ReplyDeletegreat post! have a nice weekend :)

I am sorry about your job ending, i know you enjoyed it so much and I am sure you made such a positive effect on those little girls' lives. No matter what you choose to do, I wish you luck and success. Do what feels right for you! Congrats on the regram! Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteSince you've talked about about much being a nanny means to you that news had to be devastating. It sounds like you're at crossroads with your future right now but I'm sure you'll figure out what's best for you.
ReplyDeleteFirst off send you a huge hug. Your an awesome person and I know you will be able to find a new job that you love doing. I got a lot of Christmas card and gifts this year. Which is super weird.

Very nice blog! Have a lovely Day! 💚💚💚
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, that has to be so hard thinking about not being in their daily lives anymore! I hope you all are able to stay in touch! Instagram is so frustrating! Likes and follows are definitely down with all these changes and loops aren't helping at all like they used to!
ReplyDeleteI try to tell myself this all the time..but when one door closes another shall open. Maybe this is going to give you an opportunity to focus on your blog full time like you said. You LOVE blogging so much so maybe you could figure out how to do it full time. I have always told you you need to start selling your DIY crafts on Etsy. I KNOW you will do great on there!
ReplyDeleteYou know what they always say (and probably in all of these comments) but when one door closes, another will open! Kinda a scary situation, but also how fun!!! I'm sure that you would totally be able to blog full time given how successful your blog is and it might open the door for more blog related work since you'd have so much time. Whatever you choose, good luck!
ReplyDeleteElle...I'm so sorry! It's so hard to have to leave a job that you are truly in love with and devoted too. But I'm sure you will find the perfect opportunity for you. Definitely keep us updated, I'm sure things will all fall into place.
ReplyDeleteHannah is the sweetest, love the card she sent you...super cute!

I'm so sorry about your job! My best friend has been a nanny to the same family for almost 10 years and the boys are like her own! Praying for you during this transition!
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm so sorry to hear that your nanny gig is ending, lady. I see all your cute snaps of you with the girls and you can tell how much you LOVE your job! I'm sending you good vibes as you sort through what to do next- what's great is that you have almost a whole year still ahead. Hoping time passes slowly!

That's such a bummer that you're not going to be nannying for those girls anymore! I don't think that it's possible to not get close to the kids that you watch. Hopefully something else will pop up soon!
ReplyDeleteAw, hang in there. I know it must be such a bummer for you and that after seven years you love those kids so much. Thinking of you and I hope (I know it will) all work out!
ReplyDeleteAmanda Kids and Cabernet
I can understand how upset you are losing a job which you absolutely love but have faith that it'll open doors to better things, Elle. And you're not the only one who is losing likes on IG, I am having the same problem and honestly am not sure what I'm doing wrong. :-(

So sorry to hear your nanny job will soon be coming to an end. I will pray for a good resolution for you, whatever it may be! Looking forward to reading more on the Wet N' Wild cushion compacts. They have such a great price point for trying things out!
ReplyDeleteLet me repeat my FB response of sympathy and best wishes and add that I'm sure you'll find new, profitable uses for your time. Your talents are broad and valuable.
ReplyDeleteMy heart broke for you when you shared this news. The family you work for is sure lucky to have had you for 7 years and I know it will be a major change for all of you. "When nothing is certain, anything is possible." I came across that in an unknown season in my life and it was such a comfort. Praying for you friend! I hope you're loving the Wet N Wild products, I can't stop wearing the highlighter.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that God has big plans for your future and that you will find a new and perfect job! Blessings and success to you in 2017!
ReplyDeleteOh, Elle, I am so sorry... of course, enjoy every moment now till August, but it's sad anyway. I hope you find a new position and/or decide what to do - like full time blogging - in the meantime. I am sure you will, I am crossing my fingers! So good that Maybelline reposted your picture, congratulations! And bad comments, well, for each bad comment, you get loads of good ones, so the hater - will bite his/her tongue with his/her poison, be sure of that, sooner or later - while you will go on receiving good comments!

So sorry that your work with that family has come to an end! But on the other hand, it's good to face a new beginning full of possibilities :) good luck!

Sorry to hear about your job ending. That has to be hard as a nanny to say goodbye to a family no matter how king you were with them. You are awesome though and I'm sure you'll find something great in time!
ReplyDeleteThe world is your oyster! No matter what you decide, I know you'll be fantastic. Any family would be lucky to have you care for their children but your readers would love to see what you have up your sleeve if you decide to go that route! Sending hugs, friend <3
ReplyDeleteOh Elle, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that this means that another opportunity that you'll love even more will come your way--I'm sure that whatever it is you will make it work and be a success. I'm sure that family will miss you like crazy too. 7 years is a long time and no doubt you've become like family to them!! Sending hugs your way!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear your nanny job is coming to an end and I hope you find something else soon. Whenever a job has come to an end for me I just try to look at it as a positive and an opportunity to do something that I really want to try :) Good luck with everything x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you'll no longer be working with your nanny family. 7 years is a long time but I hope you can find a job just as fulfilling.
ReplyDeleteGreat post my dear, thanks for sharing... hope there are brighter job options on the horizon! - http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm sorry to hear that your nanny job is coming to an end but how amazing is it that you got to spend 7 years with them?!?! And now you have the opportunity to choose your future!! Scary, but really exciting!!

Oh girl, that must have been so hard to hear. I know that special bond you have with kiddos when you nanny them. I hope you find the perfect position this fall (whether it's with another family or doing something beauty related). *hugs*
ReplyDeleteI saw your post on Facebook about your nanny job. I'm so sorry to hear that! Your love for those girls shines through all of your posts.
ReplyDeleteI believe that everything will work out for you eventually, whether you blog full-time or get another nanny job or something else entirely.
Lots of love to you.
