Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Cushion Corrector + Primer Duo SPF 20 Review

Two big trends in the beauty world I'm sure you've noticed: color correcting and cushion compacts. Physicians Formula decided to marry the two and create the Mineral Wear Talc-Free Cushion Corrector + Primer Duo SPF 20. I was sent these--y'all know I give honest reviews--I wouldn't be here still blogging after 7 years if I didn't! After a lot of testing, and after sharing these on my Instagram, many of you wanted a review!

$16.95, drugstores, ULTA, box stores
  • weightless mineral formula
  • delivers the skin-transforming benefits of color-correction
  • skin-perfecting effect of priming
  • SPF 20

2 shades--see more on that in the pics below

Benefits:
Hypoallergenic
Paraben free
Gluten free
Dermatologist tested
Fragrance free
Cruelty free
Clinically tested
Oil-free
Talc-free

Let's look at each compact:

Peach brightens darkness
Lavender brightens dullness

Yellow corrects dark circles and dullness
Green corrects redness

To apply, you can use the sponge applicator. I used a brush to apply this. I used the yellow and peach for dark circles, the lavender for dullness (if you read yesterday's post, you'll know I was really sick, so I loved this), and green for the slight redness around my nose.

I know this is messy, but this is real life, y'all. I'm not gonna make it all perfect when that's not how I'd apply it, you know? Use this before applying your makeup. I did try it after makeup and then another layer on top. It is very light and doesn't feel heavy.

Why you should try:
This essential first step creates a flawless complexion, instantly color-corrects skin tone, blurs fine lines and pores, and conceals visible imperfections. Uniquely buildable formula allows for spot correction or all over perfecting. Airbrushing + Blurring + Correcting!

Cheaper version: Wet N Wild
Expensive Version: Lancome

Overall, I liked these, but I don't think it's a necessary product for me. I don't color correct every day, but more like for special occasions or for blog pictures. Oily skin and sensitive skin would really like them too. By the way--can you tell I've lost weight? Would you like another post on my weight loss update?

Do you use color correctors?

How was your Easter? My dog Charlie unofficially turned 8 on Easter!
Today begins the Sephora VIB sale--are you getting anything? Here are my picks.

  1. I've never tried physicians formula products. I think I might have to try this one - my skin is so dull after the long winter!

  4. I don't colour correct at all, personally I find it to be another additional unnecessary step. That said, I am intrigued about these new releases from PF.

  5. I color correct my dark circles every single day! haha. I use the yellow corrector from Lancome and mix it with the corrector from IT cosmetics. It makes a huge difference, so much that I have to use it everyday.

  6. I've only tried a mascara from Physicians Formula but I was very happy with it! These cushion color correction things sound cool though, and I've used a green concealer in the past so it's definitely something that I might have to try out!

  7. I need to try these. Always been afraid that I'd look like a clown.

PS - I couldnt find the Rimmel powder you recommended... BUT I did end up buying some Matte powder to try... OH MY WORD - it made my skin look so blotchy & made my dark spots look even darker. I was so embarassed at work yesterday seeing my face in the light here. I literally took a box of kleenex & scrubbed my face till it was all off. Rimmel may not be my product. Yikes. Maybe it was just that matte stuff. I still am on the hunt for a finishing powder though!

  8. I color correct every day. It's the only powder I use, on account of blotchiness and tzone oiliness. I like the Besame loose powders in Violet and Vanilla and the NYX green one. Color correctors are a godsend, lol. My wacky skin actually draws compliments now.

  9. It's good to know that these are so lightweight. I'm always afraid of adding more products because they might feel heavy on my face. I need to see if the drugstore downstairs carries these :)

  11. I don't know if I'll be trying these out either, I feel like I don't necessarily need color correction on a daily basis. The Sephora sale I can totally get behind though, and I already have my bag ready to go!

  28. I dont usually color correct either, but it is nice to know these are out there. My Target stopped selling this brand over the last month or two. Isn't that crazy? Happy Birthday to Charlie!

  29. Good to know that while these work there are better options available! I personally really love the NYX palette and it does it for me. :)

  30. I'm still not a fan of color correcting. I feel like it's too much on my face whereas good foundation a bit of concealer where I need it, and some powder work the best. I reallllly want to see a review of the new Butter Blushers though. (; I've had them in my hand twice now and the store and put them back both times. I love my butter bronzer and use it every single day, so I was curious of the blush could live up to the hype. (:

  31. I hope Charlie had a great birthday! I can definitely tell you've lost weight, your face is thinner. I was definitely interested in learning more about these. I've been using the green Wet n Wild one and I like it. I don't color correct every day either so I don't know that it's worth the splurge for me, but I'm glad to know they work.

  32. I haven't really tried colour correcting before but like you I think I would only really do it for special occasions. I don't think I have time before work in a morning to add this to my makeup routine but I can see why you would want to as it helps give you a flawless look :) x
