Sugar scrubs are fun to make, use, and give as gifts.
But they aren't the best idea for travel or for space--that's where solid sugar scrubs come in.
Simply use a square or break off a bit to exfoliate your skin.
Plus, they're easy to make.
I love the coffee version because it really wakes you up and it smells so good.
Mother's Day idea, perhaps?
Here's how to make them:
You'll need--
1/2 part coffee grinds
1 part sugar
1/2 part soap base (craft store or online)
slightly less than 1/4 part coconut oil or shea butter (sometimes I half each and mix the two or sometimes I skip)
mold
Melt the soap base according to directions--the double boiler method is what I suggest.
Mix the sugar, coffee, soap, and oil/butter thoroughly and pour into mold.
Allow to dry overnight.
Remove from mold and store in an airtight container.
Ideas:
These make great gifts--Mother's Day is coming soon!
Use these on the body only by adding water--do not use on the face.
I use these to remove odors from hands and feet.
Use these to exfoliate feet since sandal season is almost here.
Extra Elle:
Bought a new vacuum and I've been really excited (and kind of grossed out from the dirt it found) by it! Thanks to everyone's suggestions on social media, I chose one by Shark and I'm loving it so far.
PS: Happy birthday to my brother, Kenny!

I have a coffee scrub and I love it but it's loose so it's SO messy. I love the idea of making it in a mold! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great idea! xx

I love the scent of coffee so I bet these are just scrumptious!!! I have a shark hand held vac that I use in my car and it is sooo good! Isn't it funny how as adults, we get excited about this stuff?
ReplyDeleteThese are really easy to make! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThese would be so perfect for Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI bet these smell amazing!
ReplyDeleteI need to make these! These really would make great gifts!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading this post about beauty trends that the blogger just can't understand. Coffee scrubs were one of them! These look like they could be a good alternative to the loose version. Are they nearly as messy? That's what generally keeps me from using them lately.
ReplyDeleteOoh I bet these do smell so good, I love anything coffee scented! I never used to think I'd get excited about getting a new vacuum, but boy would I love one now, ha!
ReplyDeleteInteresting ;)

Here's the question: do they still smell like coffee? That's not one of my favorite smells. =)
ReplyDeleteI love using a good scrub! This one looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a sold one! Ive always wanted to try the coffee ones that I hear everyone talking about! It's nice to have a diy one too
ReplyDeleteI think coffee scrubs are the best - I I haven't tried to make my own one yet but this one is worth the try for sure! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI love your DYI scrub concoctions and it would make a great Mother's Day gift. I recently made a green tea scrub but the organic sugar (recommended from the recipe) was extremely harsh on the skin. It's actually not too bad if you need a deep exfoliation but can't be used on your face. I prefer something more gentle and you nailed it.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! Way less mess in a mold and they are adorable!

This is another brilliant DIY, Elle and YAY to Shark! We got a Samsung which lasted us less than a year and after I got sick and tired of it, we got a Shark and I was shocked at how much dust it gathered that the stupid Samsung didn't! Never ever again with Samsung!
ReplyDeleteHi sweetie,
ReplyDeleteThis scrub looks amazing. Thank you for sharing.
