Extra Elle: 5 Things

It's been a busy week around here, one of those where I don't know if I'm coming or going, so I thought I'd share 5 Things! I've never done this link up before, so y'all bear with me! Here we go:

Pampering Day

Yesterday, I had a mini pampering day before going to work in the afternoon. It started off with a blow out from the Cherry Blow Dry Bar Midtown. I posted pics on my Instagram story of my Beachy Keen waves. I grabbed some coffee next door before heading to get eyelash extensions--I'll post pics and everything next week. It was a nice treat to sit and relax.

Movies + Mint

Yes, I am one of those crazy people who has to try whatever the latest Starbucks treat is. So sometime last week, I took my dog Charlie and we headed out to get one for me. While walking around I noticed they were filming a movie, which never gets old! I love looking for celebs and stuff--they are currently filming 60 something shows and movies around Atlanta. Because I'm a dork, I kept walking Charlie by the set. I was hoping they'd see him and think he's so cute he had to be in the movie. Better luck next time, Charlie! ;)

Good Weather

I feel like I've officially become an old lady talking about the weather, haha. Atlanta has two seasons: REALLY hot and not as hot. We had a dip in temps recently and it was so, so nice to be in the 60s. I stayed out with the kids for hours. I took really long walks with Charlie. It's back in the 80s, nothing crazy yet, but it was a wonderful treat while it lasted.

Soft Skin

Earlier this week I posted about my 3 faves for soft skin. I have dry skin, plus keratosis pilaris, so I am obsessed with have soft skin. Go check that post out if you haven't. But my fave thing has been the sold-out-online Scrubee from Lush. Yes, I'm still talking about it. Even the kids I nanny for have noticed my arms are softer. Go find a Lush store and grab one while you can. I'm still figuring out how to make my own.

Heading Home

I live about 5 hours away from my hometown, so I don't get to pop home every weekend to see my family. But this weekend I'll be there for Mother's Day! I can't wait! We are also celebrating my late dad's birthday, so it will be great to see everyone. If you can, be sure to give your mom an extra hug and maybe even take a pic. After losing my dad suddenly, I DO NOT take my mama or the rest of my family for granted. Trust me on this one. But back to the topic at hand--Homeward bound tonight!

So that's it for me this week! Be back Monday with a review of a new product you've heard of--I'll explain! Safe travels if you're on the road like me! And please, please enter again to win $200 from Sephora from me, as a thank you for reading my blog!

Happy Mother's Day!

  3. I miss hot weather, but I know I'll regret saying that when it gets hot there in the summer. I hope you have an awesome weekend with your family :)

  4. I seriously think I would be utterly immobilized in that heat - I do not handle warmer temperatures well at all!

  8. Haha! i would have done the same, Elle, as in walk by the set repeatedly just so I could catch a glimpse of a celebrity. LOL! I haven't had Starbucks for a long time, I love Tim Horton more these days.

  10. I remember when Blindside was filmed in Atlanta. There was another movie that was filming a few streets over from the 4th Ward District when I worked there too right before I left and I kept hoping to run in to someone famous when I went to lunch. It never happened. The Midnight Mocha was delicious! Hope you have a great weekend!

  15. They're always filming things by where I live but most of the time it's Law and Order SVU but every so often it's a big time movie. I was just reading about that Lush Scrubee and after your endorsement, I totally needs it now ;p

  17. Some pampering is just what a girl needs some time. I haven't tried eyelash extensions before I'm interested to hear how you like them. I love Cherry Blow Dry bar. The one close to me closed down for some reason but I loved the beachy waves they gave me. The Starbucks drink sounds delicious!

  18. I have dealt with keratosis pilaris forever and finally after many years I have discovered a couple things that work well for me. I have used Paula's Choice Resist Weightless Body Treatment 2% BHA which worked great. A couple of years ago I decided to try shaving my upper arms a couple times and it actually works for me. There is no hair on upper arms so no issue with stubble etc.

  19. I can't believe they are filming that many shows/movies down there! Fora a while it seemed like Seattle was going to get a little more action, but Vancouver took it out from under us. Haha! I'm gonna have to get over to Lush to try that Scrubee. That's the second time you've mentioned it. It must be good!

  30. Your waves looked so good! If I were a rich person, I would get a blow out every day. They're relaxing and fun. I can't wait to see your lashes. I really want extensions, but they're so pricey and I don't know if I'm willing to give up some other things to make them work in my budget. I've also GOT to try that frapp. I like to try all the crazy, fun drinks too. The peppermint mocha is my all time favorite Starbucks drink and of course it's only available during the holidays. I hope you enjoyed your weekend at home!
