Usually about this time of year I'm over summer and am daydreaming about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and sweaters. But Atlanta is not in the same mind frame as I. Instead, I'm Stuck in Summer. And it's shorts, specifically white shorts. I actually got the idea for this outfit after seeing an old pic of Angelica Houston and a recent one of Reese Witherspoon,
Sound:
This song has always sounded summery to me, even though it's in Icelandic and I've no idea what is being sung. PS the video is VERY NSFW, so I won't link it.

- I started with this thrifted chambray shirt, since I don't have a blue button up like in my inspiration. This one from Forever21 is only $20!
- Do you still wear white after Labor Day? I do, but feel like I need to cram in all the white outfits I can, including these white shorts. I tucked in my shirt and wore a brown belt too.
- Of course, I needed a pop of color, so I added my Morse Code Necklace I DIYed. Tutorial coming Thursday! It was inspired by the one pictured (can't figure out how to import my own pics onto Polyvore).
- I wore my fave Forever21 sandals (only $7.50 and comfy!).
- My hair was straight--I've been loving this It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product to help combat frizziness from the GA humidity. My hair feels so smooth too!
- Ok, this is kind of embarrassing, but I do not own this Poppy King lipstick from JCrew. I merely applied it when visiting the store...it's not like it's Sephora or anything! Anyway, it's sold out. Anyone know of a dupe?
- Not pictured: My watch--I always wear a watch but forget to include it in outfit posts. Well, here it is!
- Definitely not pictured: My roots.
great picks.
ReplyDeleteLove this look! Though I rarely (if ever) wear white shorts.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wanted to hear the song, but it's not coming up on my laptop. What's the name?
i want to wear this outfit this weekend! great picks. xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for fall but this outfit kind makes me wish summer would stick around for just a bit longer.

I love chambray and white. So clean. If you're going to be stuck in summer for a bit, this is a good look to rock. :)

Great summer outfit and I want that lipstick too (perhaps a J. Crew personal shopper would help?)

ReplyDeleteGreat board! I love these picks.
ReplyDeletegreat outfit! i love to wear white and the top is perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - I'm ready for the weather too cool off, but the temperatures in Charlotte are just not cooperating. I think Revlon's Orange Flip could be a pretty good stand-in for the Poppy King in a pinch!
ReplyDeleteit's not cooling off at all where i live either. i have a blue shirt like that too that i wear all the time!
ReplyDeleteI love this end of summer look! I wear white after labor day too, but I try to pair it with more fall-appropriate pieces. But I may have to break that rule so I can wear an outfit like this!
ReplyDeleteOooh I love those sandals, so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am so stuck in summer as well. Repainted my toes a more fall shade of yellow, but still yellow nonetheless. I love thinking of sunshine when I look at them.
ReplyDeleteLove your summer Icelandic song - now I'm so curious what it's about! Especially since I believe I actually used that word today of all days ;) .
Of course I had to find the lyrics in English, and here they are: http://lyrics.wikia.com/Sigur_Rós:Gobbledigook . An absolutely perfect summer song all about wind in the hair. Now I love it even more!
ReplyDeleteLove the looks :)
ReplyDeletePerfect summer outfit, I love it!

I've determined that white shorts only make sense if you never plan to sit down. Summers are full of impromptu badminton games, barbecues, etc. Dirty stuff.
