Leave Alone or Take Home: NEW Beauty & Makeup Reviews

Hey you! How was your 4th? I had a small party, and minus my oven deciding to die (no baked beans, no cookies, and no toasted buns--I like my buns toasted), the day was great! I'll share more (with pics!) on that day later on this week. As for today, I've got new products to share. Some of these were hits (take home) and a few were misses (leave alone). All of them were fun to try. I can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Now grab some coffee (tea? water?) and watch! I am working really hard on my editing and on improving my videos, so please let me know what you think!

Items purchased at MAC, Walmart, and Walgreens
1--MAC Fix + in Coconut--New, limited edition spray in my FAVE scent that refreshes makeup. TAKE HOME but I feel crazy spending $ on something I can make at home. LEAVE ALONE if you have oily skin.

2--MAC Mineralize TimeCheck Lotion--This lightweight moisturizer is great for summer months. It promises to blur those lines, but for me it did nothing. I've heard great things so it might be a TAKE HOME for you, but it's a LEAVE ALONE for me.

3--L.A.B.2 Blending in Brush--At Walmart for $5.95 is this nice quality brush. I was impressed for the price. TAKE HOME

4--Wet N Wild ColorIcon Lip Gloss in Saved by the Bellini--From the limited edition collection, this gloss is shimmery but not glittery nor sticky, but doesn't provide much color payoff. I was going to share a swatch of it on my lips, but you couldn't tell I had it on! LEAVE ALONE

5--Aqua Beauty Hydrating Cloth Facial Mask--A really well-made cloth mask that hydrates skin. I found this new line at Walmart. It worked well, and was fun to try, but not sure I'd buy it again. LEAVE ALONE

6--L'Oreal Dream Match Lumi Liquid Glow Luminizer--This is a sneak peek from my Friday post (and video) on my highlight collection. This comes in 3 colors and provides an initially metallic highlight that blends away to a natural glow. I love it. TAKE HOME

1--L'Oreal Double Ended Polish--This features a pretty polish in one bottle and a gel top coat in the other. I like how you can build the color intensity using the gel polish. Plus, each bottle is separate, making storage even easier--just pull them free from the black middle. TAKE HOME

2--L'Oreal Le Matte--A possible repackaging of the same line a few years ago, but I loved this matte crayon formula. It wasn't drying and gave great color. TAKE HOME

3--Circa Beauty BB Cream--A new line at Walgreens, endorsed by Eva Mendes, this bb cream is oil-free and looks great on skin. It doesn't feature spf but does have titanium dioxide. I'm wearing it in the video. It is really pricey at $14, but I loved it. TAKE HOME

4--Wet N Wild Under the Sheets Makeup Remover--This isn't really new, but I had to share since it is new to me! These lightly-scented makeup wipes do a decent job of removing makeup. While they worked for me in a pinch, I probably would skip next time. LEAVE ALONE

5--Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer--Add this thin lotion all over before you exit the shower. It gives soft skin that isn't sticky. I like using this in the summer instead of my usual oils. It comes in 3 scents (coconut for me). I feel like it works as well as regular lotion but it dries much faster. TAKE HOME

6--1st Acetone Power Gel Glitter Polish Remover--I'm on a constant quest to find the best remover for glitter polish and when I saw this at Walmart for $3.88, I had to try. This feels like aloe vera gel but with acetone in it. You just dip a finger into the gel and wait, and then remove with a paper towel. It DOES work (demo in video) but it gets VERY COLD. TAKE HOME if you want a less-hassle way of removing polish (I still prefer my glitter polish remover from Target or Sephora)

Which products would you try?

Extra Elle:
  • I made it a point to try new places to eat this weekend, and all were a success!
  • I surprisingly had a few days off and spent them doing blog stuff. I feel like I got a lot done.
  • While organizing my nail polishes this weekend (a #JALS goal for July) I realized I had over 352 bottles of polish. Officially on a no-buy forever.

  3. Double ended polish? I have never ever seen that and Im intrigued. Thanks for the heads up on the MAC Fix. I had been eyeing that but I have oily skin so that would have been a flop!
Ps 352 bottles of polish is a LOT of polish haha

  7. Wow! That is a lot of nail polish, but it accumulates quickly! I'm glad you had a little time off. You definitely deserve it! Love your reviews. You always do such a great job explaining the products.

  8. Glad you had a great 4th of July! I was sick all weekend, so it wasn't too exciting for me, but I did at least still get to watch the DC fireworks show on TV. The L.A.B.2 Blending in Brush sounds great. I am on the hunt for some good new brushes to replace my older ones.

  9. I did not know there was a special remover for glitter polish! I bought the peel off base coat for when I do my daughter's nails but I'm not comfortable with using it for me. I have to go to the Walmart this week so I'm going to look for this remover.

  10. I can't wait to see your highlighter collection! That Loreal one looks so pretty, I am going to have to check that one out. Also, I am going to totally have to check out that glitter polish remover! I tend to lean more towards the glittery polishes in the summer time, especially for my toes!

  11. I hope your oven is fixed now! I'm excited to see your highlight collection, and I've been curious about the fix plus coconut spray!
I always say I'm going to try new places to eat but always fail- I'm glad you were successful!

  13. 352 bottles?!?!? Oh my gosh - I had to laugh.
This is information overload... thanks for posting a video. I know what to keep an eye out for now.
I'm a coconut fragrance fan myself.

  14. Girl, you tried a ton of new stuff! Thanks for the tip to stay away from the coconut fix+ if you have oily skin. I really want to try the L'Oreal Lumi Glow Luminizer.

  15. I loved the idea of the post, Leave alone or Take home! I liked the Jergens moisturizer, after shower or bath, I mean. I hate applying body creams and if I do it twice a year that is too much, but after shower, applying such a product would be good, I think!

  18. I also love coconut scented stuff!

I don't know how I feel about that glitter nail polish remover. I would feel uneasy having it on my skin at all, I suppose!

  19. I'm super excited about this series! I want to try one of the matte crayons so bad. I hear so many people rave about Fix+ but I'm oily so I have no need for it, but I'm sure the coconut one smells so good. I can't wait to get home and watch the video!

  20. The double ended polish is cute! I love the color with or without the blue! The MAC Fix sounds awesome, too. I like that they have different options for scents!

  22. I was waiting for you to mention the L'Oreal high lighter before I caved. I'm pale, like REALLY pale. I want the rose gold looking one, but according to the warm/ cool thing I'm that BAM golden color. I think that looks amazing on women with deeper complexions. I'd look like Edward Cullen's Roman ancestor...

  23. Glad you had a great holiday weekend, Elle! Aside from the oven, of course. That's a real pain! Great picks! I especially love the idea of that L'Oreal le matte lip color. I'll have to try it out!

  40. I just loved this video Elle. I've always wondered would Fix Plus be good for oily skin. I have oily skin so I won't mess with it. Beautiful post as always. You always teach me so much.

  41. I really wanted to try the Fix + Rose. It sounds lovely (as does the coconut). Which polish remover from Sephora do you use? The one you mentioned in your video looks good to me, but I would definitely prefer something that worked a little faster. I tend to shy away from glitter polishes (even though I love them) because the removal process is stressful.

  42. I definitely like hearing your opinions and getting a quick product review so I say yay to this format!

  45. $14 for a drugstore bb cream is pricey! They seem to do that these day- drugstore products for high end prices. Very strange! xoxo, Sissi www.beauty4free2u.com

  46. Like the new editing look. The WnW gloss looks like something I want to try. So sorry about the oven that is a bummer. That is a ton of polish, totally no buy for awhile girly!
